Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Immediate Repair Lip Balm Review

A girl can never have enough lip balms! We are always on the lookout for lip balms available out there! Who doesn’t know lip balms serve different purposes? Plain balms help soften your lips before applying lipstick/gloss! They also help prepare your lips for solid formulae like lip tints! Medicinal formulae works wonders in healing dry and cracked lips! I can hardly resist a lip balm! So far, I tried and tested Carmex, Blistex, Sally Hansen, Vaseline and Body Shop lip butter! My range also includes a wide variety of Indian products, as well! I swear by some products, others are simply laid to rest! On such quest, I came across Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Immediate Repair Lip Balm! I found the wee tub overwhelming! The rest is history!

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Immediate Repair Lip Balm

Ingredients List for Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Immediate Repair Lip Balm  – Isononyl Isononanoate, C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Polybutene, Polyethylene, Petrolatum, Alkyl Hydroxystearoyl Stearate, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Behenyl Alcohol, Stearoxy Dimethicone, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Parfum.

Isononyl Isononanoate, Alkyl Hydroxy Stearoyl Stearate and Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate are great emollients and skin-conditioning agents used in products like moisturizer, lipstick, anti-ageing products etc!

C 12-15 Alkyl Benzoate is emollient, a skin-conditioning agent with anti-microbial properties mostly used in products with SPF and anti-ageing formula!

Polybutene derived from petrolatum is used as a plasticizer! Ingestion of large doses of polyethylene might result in liver and kidney damage!

Behenyl Alcohol derived from coconut fatty alcohol acts as a thickening agent and also helps prevent moisture loss!

Stearoxy Dimethicone acts as great emollient and skin-conditioning agent with skin protecting formula!

Tocopheryl Acetate concerned as human skin toxicant has been used in products like foundation, moisturizer, lip gloss, lipstick and anti-ageing products!

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Immediate Repair Lip Balm with glycerin and rich emollients intensively moisturises, repairs and immediately relieves dry, cracked lips and nostrils from first application! I have never come across such a fragrant lip balm! Smells heavenly, which makes it a perfumey lip balm! I believe every girl should own a mint flavored balm, but too much of mint makes the weather chilly! In fact, I am glad Neutrogena formula has nothing to do with mint! A little birdie told the Neutrogena Lip Balm available in the Indian market is fragrance-free, so better watch out! Originally, 15 ml frost-finish tub with red lid retails for £2.50!  (Indian price around Rs 200) The quantity you get is quite a surprise! Product comes in a screw top tub! Box inside a box inside a box, this also has outer case packaging! The product is a non-greasy! Looks waxy and opaque in the tub, but definitely comes out transparent! I always found Neutrogena lip balm consistency tricky! Feels super soft to touch, but kind of grainy on lips! At least, for a few minutes after application! Your lips feel soft in a buttery-bubble! Comparatively, you don’t have to struggle hard to get the product on to your finger tips!

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Immediate Repair Lip Balm

Lately, UK weather has been playing pranks! It’s still snowing! Such case, the first worst affected part will obviously be our lips! My pout is terribly cracked and dry! Ouch! One such day, I applied Neutrogena lip balm with my fingers! Don’t you agree fingers are the most ignored tools of perfection? Just a couple of applications! No sore lips! Once the formula is completely absorbed in, lips feel super soft!

Neutrogena really works at the moment! Instant gratification! I can’t call it a downside, but I find the plastic tub cheapy! It might sound better if the formula had SPF! The life expectancy of this product is 36 months, which means you are free to ignore this at least for a couple of years! Especially, if you are always on the hunt like myself! I search the markets vigorously, but always tend to ignore the stuff in my hands! Am I the sole soul who feels that way?

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Immediate Repair Lip Balm

If you can get your hands on Neutrogena Norwegian formula, any product from this range as such, try it for yourself! Evil winters can hardly make a difference to your skin with Neutrogena! Wondering how? Despite the harsh weather conditions, Norwegian fishermen reported soft and supple hands! Later, Neutrogena discovered the oils in the fish had intensively moisturising properties! A synthetic version of the fish oil was created and to this day remains an integral ingredient in the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula range! Credit goes to the great seas! Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is designed to protect and help repair dry skin even on hard-working areas such as elbows, knees and heels! Glycerin-enriched products soothe dry and chapped skin, providing comfort and restoring moisture levels! Legend says UK market sells a Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream every 5 seconds!

P.S – I reiterate! How miraculous your lip product might be, try to exfoliate your lips!

hey Divija…..nice post….I have seen couple of Neutrogena products based on the Norwegian formula but didnt know the relevance behind it which I do now thanks to you ;)

I have a silly Q for you….how do you exfoliate your lips???

Hey HD, sorry to cut in, but if your lips are chapped and peeling, I have a simple exfoliation that I do at home.

You just need a kid’s toothbrush (very soft and non abrasive bristles) and vaseline. Layer vasleine on your lips and GENTLY scrub the dead skin off at night. You’ll wake up to a beautiful smile every morning! :)

True, the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula range is very good. I’m hooked on the moisturiser (the huge bottle). It keeps my skin eczema-free during the harsh winters in Oslo..unfortunately, the only Neutrogena product you can find is the Norwegian Formula hand cream, everything beyond that is not available. Ironic, isn’t it? :)

HD,

Nice meeting u. thnq for the sweet comments :)

well each of us have a different routine…here is how i exfoliate my lips…i slather a more medicated lip balm day and night…i use a soft wash cloth to get rid of the dead skin on lips…i feel more comfortable using wash cloth, comparitively…to be honest, i did hurt using a brush, so i had to opt the wash cloth technique…

yes, there are ppl who swear by the brush technique as well, so its finally your choice :)

pls feel free…i wont bite u :) dont consider ur questions silly :) nobody can get sillier than me according to Rati ;)

Poornima dear,

I know, dear…tats the same case here…talk abt telepathy :) mine was totally unintentional, if u believe…thnq very much for the comments babe…

Dear Ki,

thnq very much for the comment..I know how it feels
when somebody reviews our fav. product…looks like Neutrogena becomes a cult fav. soon :)

Mrunmayee,

Cant thnq enough for the lovely comments…made my day, dear….feel so honored…pls feel free to ask anything…if u think i can answer it…where chances are very less…we have too many brainy beauties around (exclude me)…

U r too modest like Rati :) Do u really think I am knowledgeable? Its high time I take u to couselling, doll :) LOL

I know a brush can often be harsh! :/
that’s why I use a special starter brush for babies… VERY soft :D although I might just start using a washcloth!

Reply

smita April 6, 2010 at 9:28 pm

I use a washcloth immediatley after my shower….lips are already softened by then and exfoliation is easier

Reply

Rati April 6, 2010 at 9:15 pm

I also use the brush technique with my tiny peach colour Johnson and Johnson baby brush. :)
