Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Wash Review

When I was a kid, I saw an ad where the model emphasized on using a product to achieve beautiful, clear skin saying that healthy skin is the real makeup. 😉 Well, though the statement might not be literally true, but there is no denying the fact that everyone wants clear skin and makeup is also hassle free when you have great skin to begin with.  As a child, my skin was okay, and even when I was in my teens, though my skin was very dry, it was usually very well behaved and I rarely had any break outs. But after I moved to different cities for my higher education and then places for my job, I have been suffering from break-outs on and off. 🙁 Ever since I moved to the US, my face has never been acne free. :’(

A couple of months back, I had really bad break-outs and nothing seemed to work, and that was the time when I picked this face wash. I trust Neutrogena products for my skin care and they have almost always proved their worth. Also, most of the acne-treating products in the market are targeted for oily skin, and I have very dry skin. Let us see how this product fared for me.

My Experience with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Wash:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power Cream Wash comes in a tube with a flip top cap. The tube is not transparent and has all the details printed on the back of the tube. The cap closes with a click but the tube is huge to be carried along while traveling.

The product is very light green in color with a pearlescent finish. The texture is very thick and creamy and it does looks like a cream more than a face wash. 😉 It has a lovely cucumber fragrance to it which is pretty mild, not strong. As the name says, it is a cream wash and hence it does not lather and it feels like you are massaging cream on your face. On application, there is a strong cooling and tingling sensation which probably is due to the presence of menthol in the product. The product washes off easily and does not leave any greasy layer on the skin.

Coming to the acne-controlling capability: boy, it works! It really works!!. I felt a huge relief in just a week of the usage and after a fortnight, my breakouts were in control. It does reduce redness and irritation and being a cream wash, it does not leave my skin dry or stretchy. 🙂 Claims of treating acne even before it emerges are not necessarily true and I still get a few pimples here and there, but nothing like what it was a couple of months ago.

But at the same time, I also feel that it does not cleanse my skin thoroughly, as in, I do not wear makeup daily, it is just sunscreen and I feel that this face wash does not remove it thoroughly. So, nowadays, I use it only in the mornings and follow up with another face wash in the evenings that removes all traces of dirt, grime and sunscreen from my face.

Yes, this has been my saviour. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to girls who are struggling to keep their breakouts in control.
