Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser Pink Grapefruit

Product Description:
Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser
The #1 dermatologist recommended acne-fighting cleanser-Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash comes with an uplifting blast of pink grapefruit! With maximum strength Salicylic Acid acne medicine boosted by MicroClear technology, Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash powerfully treats and helps prevent breakouts—even blackheads. This unique formula contains 100% naturally derived grapefruit extract plus vitamin C. It eliminates oil and dirt, and rinses clean without over-drying.

I recently reviewed the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser on IMBB. I had mentioned having bought a bunch of Neutrogena facial cleansing products for acne-prone skin all at once, so I thought I’d review another one of them today.

The Pink Grapefruit range from Neutrogena looks very attractive! I couldn’t resist. The range isn’t available in India yet (I picked up this stuff from the US), but I hope that it will make its way to India soon.

The range offers several products including a cream cleanser, a foaming scrub, face wipes, body wash etc. I have only tried the facial cleanser that I am reviewing here and the foaming scrub (I love the scrub!).

First off, I am going to say that I wasn’t as impressed with this product as I was with its original variant (Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser). I can’t help but compare the two. This one looks very attractive and claims to do just as much good to acne-prone skin, but I think somewhere it just falls short and disappoints.
description
This is a light pink, fragrant, gel-based cleanser that is neither too thick nor too runny in consistency. It lathers well. It contains Salicylic Acid, which is supposed to combat acne. It seems to clean the skin pretty well. The packaging is beautiful and also very convenient to use. This one also claims to contain Vitamin C.

Here is the Pros and Cons list to help you put this one into perspective.

Pros of Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser:

• 2% Salicylic Acid: Seems to deal with acne fairly well. Controls the zits.
• A good facial cleanser: Skin feels pretty clean after every use.
• Eliminates oil: Good for oily, acne-prone skin.
• Convenient to use, travel-friendly, and attractive packaging.
• Pink Grapefruit: This is an attractive ingredient!
• Contains no parabens.

Cons of Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser:

• Very drying: It claims to not over-dry the skin, but it does! I have very dry skin and I need to rush to cream/moisturiser right after using this. The original variant, however, doesn’t give me the same problem. Perhaps this may not be a point of concern for people with very oily skin, but I can’t be sure.
• Not as effective as the original product: Although this works well on acne-prone in its own right, it doesn’t seem to be quite as good as the original facial cleanser.
• The pink grapefruit smell is a little too pungent for my liking!

Verdict:
This is a slightly above average face wash for acne-prone skin. It’s quite drying though, so people with dry skin should stay away from it. It’s effective, but not as effective as its original variant.

Overall, if you have a choice, you must go for the original Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser and NOT the pink grapefruit cleanser! It may look very attractive, but it isn’t all that effective.

Price:
About 8-9 USD for 6 fl. oz/177 ml.

Rating: 3/5.

  1. I agree with the extremely drying part …. it dried my oily combination skin that I suffered from peeling for the first time 🙁
