NIC’S Sticks by OPI – Vio Let’s Go Review

Hello beautiful ladies,

Today, I will review something different. It is a nail lacquer, but different from other nail lacquers. It’s a nail lacquer in a pen. We all know that nail art pens are available in the market, which have thin tips or applicators that help in drawing designs on nails, but have you ever heard about nail polish in a pen form? Maybe you have but before seeing this, at least I wasn’t aware about any such product. One day while surfing for China Glaze and OPI’s nail polishes online, I came across this product which is called NIC’S Sticks and they are from OPI’s Nicole collection.  When I searched the net to get information about these, I came to know that they were launched around 5 years ago. As they were by OPI, I thought that I should try them. Only 4 colors were available on the site, out of which 3 were sold out and so I bought the last color left. The color is called Vio -Let’s Go.  I bought it around a month ago, but used it last week because I wasn’t able to figure out how to use it.

Price:

Rs. 180 for 4 ml.

I was a bit happy to see the price, as it belongs to OPI and is not overpriced like the OPI’s regular nail polishes.  Although the quantity of product is much more higher in the regular polishes, still I feel that Rs. 670 (OPI’s retail price in India), is a little too much.

Packaging:

The product comes in a cylindrical tube with a twist-open black cap. The product is in a PVC tube which is visible only towards the base of the product. A brush is attached to the upper section of the product.  To use the product, you have to shake the tube, then open the cap and press the PVC tube visible at the base. After 2-3 pumps, the nail lacquer starts to come out from the brush at the top from where it can be directly applied onto the nails.

Ingredients:

List of ingredients is mentioned on the tube itself.

Key Features:

  • Fits into pocket or purse.

My Take on NIC’S Sticks by OPI – Vio Let’s Go:

Color:  Vio-Let’s Go is a beautiful shimmery color which is neither exactly violet nor exactly blue. It is actually a mixture of many different colors. It gives hints of different colors at different angles. Sometimes, it seems to be a violet, but when you turn your finger slightly in the other direction, it might look blue; it also actually gives a shine of golden color.

Texture: The polish is easy to apply (I don’t think anybody will have a problem in applying from a pen-shaped product) and the color spreads pretty evenly. The only problem is streaking.  The bristles of the brush are not very soft and thus while applying, the color may come out to be streaky.  The streakiness is not visible in the first coat, but in the second coat, lines are visible. I didn’t have much of a problem with this as this color is not too bright and is actually shimmery and thus those streaky lines are not visible in this shiny color.

Drying Time: The polish does not even take 1 complete minute to dry, it dries so quickly. Even the second coat dries super fast.

Staying power: The staying power of the color is pretty good; it easily stays for 3-4 days without chipping and that too without a top coat. Even after 3 days, it just starts to come off from the edges and does not chip.

Pros of NIC’S Sticks by OPI – Vio Let’s Go:

  • Many beautiful colors available in this range.
  • Travel friendly.
  • Very easy to use.
  • Dries quickly.
  • Neat and appealing packaging.
  • Spreads evenly.

Cons of NIC’S Sticks by OPI – Vio Let’s Go:

  • Pricey, okay that its from OPI and as compared to OPI nail lacquers, it’s cheap, but for Rs. 180 for just 4 ml, its too much.
  • Might look streaky on second coat, especially with a non-shimmery color.
  • Brush needs to be cleaned after every use, which leads to wastage of a lot of precious product.

Would I Repurchase NIC’S Sticks by OPI – Vio Let’s Go?

Yes, I would like to try at least one more color.  I know it’s costly, but still I would like to see how well it would glide on my nails.

Do I Recommend NIC’S Sticks by OPI – Vio Let’s Go?

Yes! It’s something different and very convenient for traveling.
