Nivea UV Whitening Body Serum Review

Hello everybody,

It’s the first week of the month, which usually means it’s the week I blow away half my salary 😛 I had a nice little haul online last week, and can’t wait to review the yummy stuff I got 😀 . For today though, I want to review the newly-launched Nivea body serum/lotion which I have been using for the past 10 days or so. Read on to find more!!!

Price:

SGD 10 (I got it at a “2 at the price of 1” promotional offer) for 200 ml.

My Experience with Nivea UV Whitening Body Serum:

Nivea has been a trusted brand around our home since childhood, we used to have those big blue dabbas full of Nivea cold cream for winters. I used to loooove the smell and till now I associate the smell with happy memories of childhood 🙂

Nowadays, I don’t usually use a body lotion (except on my feet which are prone to over-dryness). My Body Shop body polish gives me enough moisturizing to not need any, but whenever I go home, my mum nags about how I should use sunscreen on all the exposed parts of my body as the sun causes skin damage. So when I saw this at the promotional offers counter at supermarket here, I picked it up instantly.

Nivea UV Whitening Body Serum

The lotion/serum is lightweight and non-sticky and gets absorbed into the skin like magic. It gives a bit of healthy luster to the skin and smells light and nice. The squeeze tube is convenient to use and the amount that comes out in a squeeze is enough for application on one arm. Though I don’t perceive myself to be looking any fairer after the ~10 days I have been using it, I do find that after showering after a full day of wearing this, my skin kind of looks glowy.

Nivea UV Whitening Body Serum

The only significant con I have found about this is that it’s too light for the skin of my feet. Hence, I wouldn’t advise this to ladies with extremely dry skin. It’s a good body lotion for normal-to-slightly-dry skin.

Pros of Nivea UV Whitening Body Serum:

  • Non sticky and smooth.
  • Consistency is light and serum like and the lotion is absorbed easily.
  • Gives some sun protection and keeps some amount of tan away.

Cons of Nivea UV Whitening Body Serum:

  • Too lightweight for dry skin.
  • Doesn’t live up to claim of “noticeably fairer” skin.

IMBB Rating:

3.8/5

Final Verdict:

This again is one of those products which go neither into the “awesome” nor the “horrible” buckets.  It is a good enough body lotion for daily use and does keep my skin significantly better than not wearing any lotion at all. I will probably not repurchase as I keep trying new stuff till I find something of HG status 😉
