My Experience with Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Moisturizing Shampoo:

Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Moisturizing Shampoo comes in an inverted tube packing. The tube has a flip top cap which shuts with a click. The tube is white in color with blue-black hair graphics on the tube. All the details are also printed on the back of the tube. It has a small nozzle at the bottom to dispense the product.

Packaging

The shampoo is white in color with a pearlescent finish. The consistency is pretty runny. Yes, it is not as thick as shampoos normally are. In fact, when I saw the small hole for dispensing the product, I was quite unsure if it would easily come out of it, but it flowed out. Due to the consistency, I found it a bit difficult to control the amount of product flowing out when my tube was still new as it would start coming out as soon as I inverted the tube, without me squeezing it. It seems that they have reformulated the formula as I have read in many online reviews that earlier the product was extremely thick.

Cap Open

The shampoo, though is sulfate free, lathers very well. A dime-sized amount is enough for a single wash for my mid-back length hair. I have oily scalp, dry but very fine hair, and I wash them every alternate day. Using this shampoo did not change that equation. A single wash is enough for my non-oiled hair, however, after oiling, I do need two washes to take the oil out completely, which is mostly the case with all other shampoos as well. It cleans my scalp and does not leave any residue. It is easy to wash out and rinses out easily.

Swatch

Now coming to the fragrance, though the shampoo says “beach babe,” I did not have the slightest idea that it would have coconut scent!!! Yeah, the shampoo smells like coconut oil. It does have coconut oil in the ingredients, but I thought it is added to provide moisture, that’s it! I did not like the fragrance. I am not a fan of coconut fragrance (this is my personal preference) and clearly don’t want my hair to smell like I haven’t washed them well and they still smell of the oil I put in them!! Though I don’t use coconut oil either but not everyone knows that!! And where the fragrance from the other variant I used – Not Your Mother’s Way To Grow Long and Strong Shampoo, does not stay in the hair for long, the scent of this product is stays for long. :/ I am glad I did not pick up the conditioner from the same range as I could have never used that due to the fragrance.

Now, the moisturizing claims – this variant doesn’t make my dry hair more dry like the Way To Grow Long and Strong one, but does hydrate my hair a bit. Though a conditioner is needed along with this as well, but on some days when I am in rush, my hair can do without a conditioner too. I have oily scalp and the shampoo doesn’t make it oilier.  It does give volume to my hair, a bit less than the other variant though.

Pros of Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Moisturizing Shampoo:

  • Sulfate, paraben, phthalate free.
  • Not tested on animals.
  • Lathers well.
  • Cleans my scalp thoroughly.
  • Only a dime-sized is required per wash.
  • Does hydrate my hair a bit.
  • Gives volume to my hair.

Cons of Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Moisturizing Shampoo:

  • Runny consistency.
  • Coconut fragrance, a big turn off for me.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Moisturizing Shampoo?
Well, no. I do not like how it smells and also because it did not do anything too good for me. It is just an average product. There are many better shampoos in the market.
