NYC Kohl Eyeliner Pencil – In the Navy Review

Hey Beautiful ones :)

How are you doing today! I am here to share another great goodie from NYC which is a dual brow liner as well as a pencil eyeliner.  However, only a few colors are meant for brows, rest all may be used as eyeliners.  So, here comes NYC Classic Brow/Liner “In The Navy.” Please read on further to know about the shade “In The Navy.”

Product Description:

Define your eyes like the New York skyline. NYC New York Color Classic Brow and Liner Pencils line your eyes precisely with intense color. Get salon-quality eyebrow shaping with a natural non-waxy finish, and pay less too.  Benefit of 2 in 1 product: This dual-purpose pencil works as defining brow filler to shape and shade brows perfectly and a precision eyeliner to intensify your eye look. Dermatologist tested and Vitamin E.

Packaging:

Since it is a brow pencil liner, it comes in a long pointed pencil packaging with transparent safety cap. It seems to be travel friendly as the cap ensures easy and safe handling of pencil. Sharpener is not included with packaging which may be a drawback of using pencil liners.

My Experience with NYC Kohl Eyeliner Pencil – In the Navy:

I am already happy with NYC glosses and recently when I noticed their pencil liners, I stocked almost each of them and since they were almost 50% off their real price, we just shopped like crazy without thinking about their utility :P However, I am not much happy with all the pencils as much as I love their glosses.  “In The Navy” brow/liner pencil seems a bright navy blue shade without any shimmer.  The shade is so beautiful that one cannot resist an urge of wearing it on eyes immediately, but the texture of pencil highly disappoints.

Blue Eyeliner 5

Even when I swatch the shade on hands, it feels soft and slides easily, but God knows what happens to the same pencil when I slide it on the eyes. It does not come up neatly and soft on eyes.  I took this shade for myself as I hardly own any cream blue-based shade, but it seems I need to check another brand as this navy blue pencil does not look good on the eyes, though the shade is super awesome.

Considering its rough texture, I do not feel it is safe enough to swipe it on the waterline; however, my friends use the same pencil and they haven’t had any problem so far, which is weird! Once I mustered the courage to swipe it on my eyes and I noticed that this particular pencil is smudge proof and stays for 6-8 hours, strange! But honestly, it does not make any sense to swipe a hard pencil multiple times on sensitive skin even if its smudge free and stays for longer hours.  I guess this particular pencil is only meant for eyes and not brows, as I never saw blue colored brows :P So, this shade has just one utility unlike other browns and black brow/liner pencils. I hope it won’t happen with other shades though. Apart from the texture, I was really happy with such a long liner pencil, I guess it would go a long way as it is so long! I would go for the other shades as I have heard a lot about NYC pencils and even my cousins have demanded the same pencils.

Let’s sum up the pros and cons:

Pros of NYC Kohl Eyeliner Pencil – In the Navy:

  • Beautiful shimmer-free navy blue pencil liner.
  • It is a dual purpose pencil which can be used to fill in brows as well as define and line the eyes.
  • It is dermatologist tested and enriched with vitamin E.
  • The formula is absolutely smudge free.
  • Stays for 6-8 hours on eyes.
  • Its a long pencil, which will go a really long way at dirt cheap price.

Cons of NYC Kohl Eyeliner Pencil – In the Navy:

  • Unfortunately, the texture is not soft on eyes.
  • This particular shade can only be worn on eyes and not used to fill in brows unlike other brown/black shades.

Overall, I would like to skip this particular shade for its limited utility as well as rough texture. However, I am interested to try other shades as they may be used to fill in brows at least even if they have same rough texture. I would say better check it out in the stores and then get it, maybe you would also be lucky like my friends who found it good for their eyes. Hope this review helped :)
