NYX Alabama Matte Lipstick Review

NYX is one of the best drugstore products in the market today.  NYX products are easily available and are quite cheap too. I love NYX products; I love their matte lip creams as well as their matte lipsticks. I also love the fact that NYX matte lipsticks have MAC dupe shades for 1/4th of the price. During my last visit to Shopper’s Stop, I got myself two NYX lipsticks in matte. NYX matte lipstick “Alabama” caught my eye for its sexy brick red shade.

NYX Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, richly formulated, and long wearing. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put with a non-drying matte finish.

Packaging:
The NYX matte lipstick is housed in a matte finished black lipstick holder; the middle part is transparent and shows the product color. Like with every lipstick, the name of the shade is written on one end of the lipstick holder and the ingredient list is written on the lipstick holder. The shade “Alabama” is described as a brick red shade by the company. The lipstick has a faint scent, but I was unable to identify the smell. Also, the smell is not something to write about, I kinda did not like the smell of this lipstick.

My Experience with NYX Alabama Matte Lipstick:

NYX Matte lipsticks are smooth and non-drying according to the product description and indeed they are smooth and creamy.  The shade “Alabama” is a deep brick red shade; it is highly pigmented and smooth enough to glide easily on the lips.

I applied one coat of the lipstick on my lips and it gave a very opaque and semi-matte finish. The lipstick stayed put on my lips for a good four hours. After four hours, the lipstick was left only on the outline on my lips, the middle part of my lips still had a brick reddish stain on them.

The lipstick does not weigh down the lips and neither dries them out like other matte lipsticks. The brick red shade is ideal to wear with dark colored dresses and also great for parties. It is red but not dramatic, does not make your face scream like other reds.

Alabama looks natural even for everyday use. The brick red shade went perfectly with my beige lehenga during a recent wedding event. The brick red shade also makes your pearlies look whiter, so selfies and pictures come out great.

Pros of NYX Alabama Matte Lipstick:

• The pigmentation of the lipstick is very good.
• The brick red color looks natural and complements every skin tone.
• The lipstick is smooth and buttery.
• It has titanium dioxide which acts as an SPF.
• It does not chap or dry out the lips.
• Retails at $6 each, which is a very reasonable price.
• The lipstick stays put on the lips for a long time.
• Does not weigh down the lips.
• Makes your teeth look whiter.

Cons of NYX Alabama Matte Lipstick:

• The lipstick is not completely matte.
• It requires to be blotted by a tissue to become completely matte.
• The smell of the lipstick is weird.

My Verdict on NYX Matte Lipstick in Alabama:
I love my NYX Matte Lipstick in “Alabama” and I am always getting compliments when I am wearing this shade. I recommend this to all our Indian beauties because this particular shade compliments every skin tone.
