NYX Jaded Prismatic Shadows Review

By Priya S.

Hello gorgeous ladies,

NYX has always been one of my favourite drugstore brands. Although I loved using their blushes and lipsticks, I would like to admit that I was never a fan of NYX eyeshadows, whether singles or palettes, but the NYX Prismatic eyeshadows have changed my perception about NYX eyeshadows totally. The NYX prismatic eyeshadows were launched last year and since I had no access to these, I could not pick these babies earlier. But recently, my local Shopper Drugmart started carrying a whole line of NYX products and I am thoroughly enjoying that. So, let’s have a look at why I love this NYX Prismatic Eye Shadow in “Jaded.”

My Experience with NYX Jaded Prismatic Shadows:

Packaging:  These babies come packaged in cute little silver and black pots and the clasp is a little silver bow. How freaking amazingly cute is that!! It’s a fine way of adding that little bit of a girly touch to the tiny eyeshadow, without going too crazy. The packaging is sturdy, sleek and simple. They also have a hinge opening, similar to their other eye shadows, which I prefer to a cap that comes off all the way.

Color:  “Jaded” is a forest green with a copper duo-chrome when it catches the light. Just gorgeous! I do not have a shade similar to this in my collection and hence when I swatched this in the store, I fell for it. I love duo-chrome everything – I mean nail colours, wrapping papers and eyeshadows as well!

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is absolutely incredible! This eyeshadow formulation created by NYX can rival any expensive high-end eye shadow on the market. That’s why these were such a pleasant surprise because the original NYX eyeshadows were decent, but I wasn’t super impressed by them. In the images of the hand swatch and the eye swatch, these are swatched without any primer, so you can see how truly pigmented these are!

Texture: These are probably some of the softest and smoothest eyeshadows I’ve ever touched! No exaggerations ladies, I mean it!! You can actually see how soft they are in the hand swatch. To me, they are no less than a highly pigmented loose eyeshadow pigment that was loosely pressed together. The only downside to them being this soft is that it tends to have a bit of fallout, so you need to be careful with that.

Longevity: Without a primer, this eyeshadow lasts on my lid for a good 8 hours and with my MAC paint pot in Painterly, the longevity increases to at least 12-13 hours with the same life and colour it showed up when I first applied it, if that makes sense. So, the conclusion is that they’re long-lasting as well!
