NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil – Cottage Cheese Review

This is my first post here on IMBB and I am really excited that finally I will be able to contribute something to this blog 🙂 I am a new born in this world of makeup and have learned a lot since I started following IMBB. I love reading all the reviews and wait for the OOTD posts of all our wonderful IMBBians. Checking IMBB is the first thing in the morning for me and the last thing at night (excluding the number of times I check during the whole day).  Now, let’s get on with my review.

Today, I will be reviewing NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cottage Cheese.

I bought it online at some discount and since the time I got it, I have been using it regularly (actually I wanted the Milk one, but it was out of stock, but I was able to get this one, maybe for the better as I find it awesome!).

Product Description:

A radiant eyeliner that also doubles as an eye shadow. Made with a blend of mineral oil and powder, our creamy Jumbo Eye Pencils glide on effortlessly—no pulling, tugging or fading—and come in a rainbow of vivid hues. Some call her chubby. We say voluptuous.

Ingredients:

Bees Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) wax, Ceresin, Microcrystalline Wax, Polyethylene, Octyldodeanol , Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isostearyl Isostearate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Tocopheryl Acetate, B.H.A, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben, and Polyethylene Terephthalate. My Experience with NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil – Cottage Cheese:

I use this pencil as an eyeshadow base, on my waterline and it can also be used for highlighting cupid bow, chin, the inner corner of the eye, the brow bone, bridge of the nose, and cheekbones as well, but I use it only for the inner corners of the eyes. I have oily-combination skin and using this as a highlighter makes my skin look super shiny, so I don’t prefer a shimmery highlighter for my face except the eyes. I am in search of a matte highlighter, can anyone suggest me one? Coming back to the review, it is a shimmery white color, very smooth and blendable (make sure to blend it nicely with fingers to avoid small patches on the eyelids).

When using as an eyeshadow, I swipe it a few times on my lids and blend with my fingers all over. It stays there for 3 to 4 hours (it may stay longer if you do not rub your eyelids, which I do very often, without realizing that I have done some eye makeup ) leaving a shimmery sheen behind. It really makes my eyes pop. I don’t use it on a base as I have noticed that the popping effect is less with a base than without one (in my opinion).  It may stay longer with a base, but I am okay using it alone. It gives a fresh and vibrant look when applied to the inner corners of the eyes.

When used as a base, it helps the eyeshadow stay put for a very long time and makes the color more intense. I apply it on my waterline and smudge it a little, this brightens up my eyes and it stays there for a good 4 to 5 hours.

Cons of NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil – Cottage Cheese:

• The cap is fragile and can break if not handled gently.
• Needs a sharpener (of the jumbo size) to sharpen.
• Maybe a con for those who like matte eye shadows.

Absolutely. I am totally in love with this jumbo pencil, maybe I will get the sparkle nude shade the next time. If you love shimmers, do give it a try.
