NYX Nude Roll-on Shimmer Review

I hope you are all doing well! Since glitter eye looks are so popular at the moment and glitter eye shadow is an absolute staple in every woman’s makeup bag today I bring to you a review for a roll on shimmer from NYX cosmetics in the shade ‘nude’. I stumbled upon this brand a few months ago in a drugstore on holiday and I’m happy to say that these are available in India too, at your nearest Sephora. This shade was one I was immediately attracted to- it’s super shiny and glittery! I know wedding season is almost at an end but if you’ve got events to attend coming up I would definitely suggest investing in this. This makes a beautiful cut crease with a dark brown eye shadow or smoky eye shadow look with a and black eye shadow.

This eye shimmer comes in a plastic container with a screw on cap. It’s sleek and long and can fit in your smallest clutch for touch up’s at your next evening function. The roll on is fairly easy to apply and the product applies somewhat smoothly. This product also seems like a mixture of a nude powdered shimmer eye shadow with a finely milled silver and rose gold-ish glitter. Because it’s in a transparent plastic packaging you can see how much you have left. Also some pieces may seem like they have less product than others in the store but that is only due to settling of this shimmer.

“Brighten up with Roll on Shimmer! Add lustre to your look with our brilliant shades that roll easily onto eyes, face and body. You control the intensity of the pigment! Easily blend the shimmer powder using a brush or fingers, then pop it into your purse for on-the-go sparkle.”

USD 4, but is available for Rs. 430 in India.

My experience with NYX Nude Roll-on Shimmer :

You have to be careful when using this product as any glitter is bound to have fall out. This can be avoided in a few ways. Either do your foundation after doing your eye makeup so you can clean the stray glitter or use shadow guards! It can also help if you put some transparent loose powder on your under eyes to dust off once you’re done with your eye makeup. Another suggestion is to use a good primer that won’t case creasing like the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Since that isn’t available in India, another pocket friendly option is Inglot’s Duraline which has a million other uses too!

You have to be careful when applying this to your eye lid in terms of how much pressure you apply. You don’t want to squeeze too hard to injure yourself! This isn’t a problem if you stretch the eye area as you apply. For this reason, I would even appreciate this product even more if this came with a sifter lid instead of roll on so we could apply it with a small brush. I might even pop out the roll on apparatus and transfer this to a container, seems like a Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible danger close mission but I shall let you know how I fare! Haha!

Apart from all this, this is an absolutely beautiful color that will look wonderful on all skin tones, especially Indian women. I suggest doing a cut crease look with a dark brown eye shadow for an evening look or even applying to neck and décolletage area and smudging it out with your fingers or a huge powder or body brush- this shade is perfect for that! I applied it to my cousins back – she was wearing a low cut blouse with her sari at an evening function and people noticed it!

Pros of NYX Nude Roll-on Shimmer :

• Easy on the wallet, pigmented and does not crease.
• This shade in particular suits every skin tone.
• Multiple uses like eye shadow, inner eye highlight, brow bone highlight and can even be used on the neck, décolletage and rest of body.

Cons of NYX Nude Roll-on Shimmer :

• Fallout during application and general pain-in-the-b*m-ness to apply. Glitter flying around everywhere- its like a unicorn has sneezed on my face.
• At times it needs pressure to apply evenly.
• Parabens, parabens, PARABENS!

Would I repurchase or recommend NYX Nude Roll-on Shimmer ?

Although, this is a fantastic product and I did initially purchase two more shades of this, I would not repurchase or recommend this to anyone due to parabens in its ingredients.
