Olay Men Solutions Eye Gel Review

Olay Men Solutions Eye Gel Review

Skin care is not exclusively a woman’s domain anymore, with more and more men opening up to the various options the companies have to offer. As the demand increases, the market for men’s products has seen a massive increase with products tailor made for men’s specific skin problems being made available.

Keeping with the flow, the leading skin care brand Olay has launched a premium range of skincare products for men called Olay Men Solutions. The range includes cleansers, moisturizers, toners and eye gel.

Here, we review the Olay Men Solutions Eye Gel.

Olay Men Eye Gel

Name of the Product:

Olay Men Solutions Eye Gel.

Cost:

Rs. 699 for 15 ml.

Shelf Life:

2 years.

Product Claim:

• One step solution to reduce the appearance of dark circles.
• Lightly textured gel.
• Quickly absorbed.
• Reduces the appearance of dark circles.
• Fragrance and colorant free.
• Specialized product to treat dark circles and bags.
• Energized with a combination of Ginseng essence, Pro-Vitamin B5, witch hazel & cucumber extract.

My Take on Olay Men Solutions Eye Gel:

The eye gel comes in a little black tube, which is quite attractive, with graphics on the front.

The lid is a screw type cap, which when opened reveals the tube tip. It is small so that only a small amount is dispensed at a time – just the amount required for the under eye area.

Two

The back of the tube lists the product claim and directions of use. Since the tube is so small, most of the information is on the outer pack.

Three

Directions of use are to use morning and evening on cleansed skin. Place small dots around the eye area and smooth in till completely absorbed. A pea-sized amount is said to suffice. The product itself is a transparent gel without any fragrance. It is slightly oily to the touch. My husband tried this and said that on immediate application, the under eye area does feel quite oily, but the oiliness disappears after a while.

Fifth

My husband has been using this for more than a month now (and the tube hasn’t finished yet). The dark circles have not changed much, though the skin under his eyes does appear a bit firmer. So, the claim regarding eye bags is true, though a barely noticeable change is visible regarding the dark circles.

Ingredients:

Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Panthenol, Hexylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Carbomer, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hydroxide, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Alcohol, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Glycyrrhizic Acid, Methylparaben, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Citric Acid, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Glucosyl Hesperidin, Butylene Glycol, C10-18 Triglycerides, PVM/MA Copolymer, Swertia Japonica Extract, Ormenis Multicaulis Extract, Triethyl Citrate, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Benzyl Benzoate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Leaf Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Citronellol, Geraniol, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Peel Extract, Copper Gluconate, Canarium Luzonicum Gum Nonvolatiles, Geranyl Acetate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Panax Ginseng Root Extract

Pros of Olay Men Solutions Eye Gel:

1. Long shelf life.
2. Attractive pack.
3. Easy dispensing of gel.
4. Only a small amount gets dispensed, so no wastage.
5. Since only the eye area is targeted, a small tube lasts a while.
6. Under eye bags seem firmer.

Cons of Olay Men Solutions Eye Gel:

1. Expensive.
2. Contains parabens.
3. Not much reduction in dark circles after one month of usage.

Verdict:

This is tricky. The main claim of the product is reduction in dark circles, which has not been justified after a month of usage. It is yet to be seen if further usage will make a more significant difference. The skin under the eyes do appear firmer, and the bags reduced, so that part of the product claim holds true.

Would I Buy It Again?

Maybe, but only till a better one hits the market.

2.5/5.

  1. for getting ur hubby to use something for skincare. :waytogo: for him, for religiously using it. Hubbies expect us to look good….then we expect the same. :phoolan:
ma hubby lazzzzzyyyyy, i’m wondering if i’ll have to finish his Garnier Mens facewash that i made him buy…its just sitting in the drawer after a week.
    Good review though!

    1. Thanks Geeta :-). My hubby is a total product junkie, he buys a lot of stuff, but doesn’t use all of them. The ones he’s stuck to religiously are the Olay eye gel, Garnier PowerLight cream and a Nivea Men facewash. But yeah, most men need a lot of ‘gentle prodding’ time to time :pan:

  2. Might get this for my husband, if I find this here. He doesn’t have much dark circles, but he does have some eyebags. Thanks for the review Fabida. :))

    1. It is available at most beauty stores. My hubby found this at our local supermarket 🙂
I guess most specs wearers have eye bags, specially if they’re myopic. This should help them in that case.
