Ology Facial Moisturizer Review

Ola bonita chica’s!

With the summer around the corner (or if you are sadly somewhere on the globe where it has already arrived and is smacking you in your face with the heat waves it is causing) you are probably, just like me, looking to keep your parched and dried out skin hydrated. Not only that, but you want it to feel supple and bouncy, just like it did this winter. If you are lucky you might also find through all that searching, something that helps you keep your skin looking and feeling amazing all while giving it some SPF protection too. I am really sad to say that today I can check none of those boxes for you. I can however tell you about a product to be wary of even though it is from a really good company- Ology, which is known for using no harmful chemicals in its formulation. This will be painful, so let us just power through it.

This Ology moisturizer comes in really cutesy packaging but the expiry date is not printed on the product itself, only on the box. The clear plastic bottle easily shows you how much product you have left and the pink pump is simple enough to pump out the moisturizer slash sunscreen. The plastic cap secures well and does not come off accidentally in a purse or bag thus preventing leakage. The moisturizer itself is white in colour.

My experience with the Ology Facial Moisturizer :

I had very high hopes for this moisturizer when I bought it. And for some reason every time I build something up in my mind, it never delivers the same way I imagined it would. Again, Ology is known for some fantastic products and they are very well known for leaving out harmful chemicals. This moisturizer itself is sulphate, paraben, phthalate and petroleum jelly free which are all really great qualities so I really have to wonder where it all went wrong.

First of all, the pump mechanism is really messy. Only if you squeeze slowly do you get the product on your palms. If you squeeze in a hurry, as I did the first time using this, you only get gloopy moisturizer all over your freshly ironed work clothes. Not nice.

Secondly, the moisturizer itself smells funky. This is very unlike Ology, but this product has a very strong chemically smell one that I was very overwhelmed by when I started smearing this all over my face. It is not super overpowering, but it is not pleasant either.Thirdly, SPF 15 is too little for my opinion, especially for use in India. I mean I would settle for it if this was a phenomenal product, but it is not one so that is a shame. Even though it does protect from UVA and UVB I do not want to be reapplying this every 15 minutes.

And lastly the moisturizer itself is a huge let down. It is a liquid consistency which is not what it looks like in the bottle. That itself is not the problem. The problem is that it refuses to get absorbed into my skin even after a few minutes of massaging it in. We live in a fast paced world and if I may say so- Ain’t nobody got time for that! Even after I rub and rub I am left with these little white specks that look like eraser dust. You know after you rub out pencil work with an eraser? Those do not come off your face easily and it is hard to pick them all off before proceeding with makeup. It is just a waste of time, plus moisturizers are not supposed to do that in the first place! Even after I picked all of them off, this moisturizer leaves my face looking white. And not in a photograph, just me looking in the mirror, there are just patches of white looking back at me. It is also more significantly white around my hair line and my eye brows which just left me very confused. All in all this product is a huge no-no.
