Makeup and Fashion Shopping Websites in India

online shopping makeup fashion websiteTwo weeks back, I was going through my article “Best Online Shopping Website in India: IMBB Survey” which I wrote nearly two years ago. I had expressed doubts about success of E commerce in India so easily. The old Amazon model- bringing in investors, advertising heavily, and then hoping to break even ten years later perhaps- may not work in Indian scenario. For one, India still needs to go a long way in terms of Internet connectivity. For another, the already successful Ecommerce ventures abroad, such as Amazon itself, would jump on the Indian bandwagon themselves once they see real big consumer base coming in. Ironically, the latter suits many of the online shopping websites fine because they are anyhow hoping to get sold out later to bigger fish in the ocean.

Not surprisingly, many of the sites I had covered in my survey then do not exist anymore. And even if they do, they have fallen into oblivion now, been replaced by newer hungrier shopping websites. On the brighter side, many of the shopping websites we covered two years ago still DO exist. It is good to see so many online ventures still holding out. It is good for Indian online consumer.

But since that time, fresher lot of online fashion and makeup websites in India have come in and it’s time to refurbish the survey. We are focussing only makeup or fashion websites here and not websites selling electronics or other items. Please do let us know if we have missed out on any important shopping website. Please DO take the survey (sites arranged according to traffic rankings) if you have experience of shopping for makeup or fashion at some of these websites.

this is a useful post indeed, you know there are some unpopular but really nice shopping website i will share the names, the one I like the most for their quality is: http://www.shopnineteen.com/
and you also missed out Done by None – http://www.donebynone.com/ which is really doing good among the fashionistas.

and for accessories : http://www.youshine.in/ however there are kiosk of youshine in the malls too. I dont know if you are aware, there was a lovely artisan/hadicrafts/manmade online shop called SHOPO.in which recently been taken over by snapdeal. I was disappointed. Shopo was one in itself.

hello sanjeev, very well written article.. a lot of online stores are purchased by biggies.. our urbantouch also..
i like flipkart, medplusbeauty, purplle etc.. zivame is also very good!!
i wud like to mention here that some of the stores offering half price actually send u seconds products. they dont mention that, but it is the surplus. although they do offer exchanges and returns, but still, they shudnt be doing tht on first place..

medplusbeauty is great but the only problem is, they don’t accept my maestro card and I have to beg borrow and steal my brother’s or mom’s cards :P :P otherwise their range and customer services quality everything is superb. This is one of my top favourite online shopping websites!! They have some great international brands such as cetaphil, soap and glory and a lot more. I love shopping with their awesome discounts and promotions!! *oye balle*
Slassy is omg the best when it comes to customer support and the quality of their packaging is hands down the BEST!! Only if they could include some more brands. Rimmel products are available only at slassy *clap*
I feel flipkart has gone down when it comes to time of delivery. *smug*
Purplle are great but last few times I have had this problem where they do not have the listed items. I usually make online payments so later they contact me saying this isn’t available. Last time they took a long long time to ship my product. But their collection is great with some of very good international brands such as tigi, kerastase etc. I enjoy shopping with them. :)
eBay omg I have purchased all my physicians formula and aussie products from this awesome seller at eBay. You guys must check it out! *hifive*
I shopped one time at beautyKafe and they had some innerconflict going on. Someone picked my phone and told me I have been looted blah blah and later I get a call apologising. I have stopped shopping from them since then. *scared* *scared*

Apart from the above distinctive websites, I want to say something about this site called style tag.com. Guys!! Never purchase from them!! Its been thrice now and has happened with lot of my friends that we make the payment. They do not send the products for months and DO NOT REFUND your money. I have wasted like 3k and its been months. I have been calling them since 2 months and the customer service will always lie to me that they will transfer the amount next day. So just a warning if you are planning to shop with them. *ghost* *ghost* *headbang* *headbang*

btw, Great post Sanjeev ji, really helpful for shopaholics like me :P *happy dance* *happy dance* *happy dance* *happy dance* *thankyou* *thankyou*
