Actually, my friend gifted this cult favorite set last year which includes 3 gorgeous OPI classic nail colors along with a rapid dry top coat. And, I will share them one by one with you! My Experience with OPI Classics Nail Lacquer – Strawberry Margarita and Cajun Shrimp:
I love the cute small bottle which is a travel-friendly version of the regular packaging. It does have a strong enamel smell; thankfully not overpowering. Overall, I find them pretty user-friendly and travel-friendly. As I mentioned earlier, I own 3 cult favorite shades “OPI Red”, “Strawberry Margarita” and “Cajun Shrimp”. The former shade is already reviewed on IMBB hence, I will share my views on latter ones.
“Strawberry Margarita” is described as a bright pink color with crème finish which is true to its description. It comes up as a bright pink on my skin tone imparting an opaque cream finish which instantly gears up my skin tone as well. I find it a mood lifting shade which seems perfect for every beauty, regardless of their skin tone. The texture of this shade seems a bit runny which comes up slight streaky on the first stroke but, it appears smoother and fully opaque in two swipes with even tone and saturated finish.
Like any OPI nail lacquer, the formula is not goopy, this goes on smoothly on our nails. Moreover, I own these shades for more than a year now and I haven’t noticed any change in its texture and finish, so far. The shade survives 5+ days on my hands with no chipping or fading while I see mild peeling off from the 7th day. I see that applying a rapid dry top coat definitely increases the longevity in my case. Overall, I am certainly happy with this shade and formula and would highly recommend it to everyone.
The shade “Cajun Shrimp” is described as a spicy coral shade while it appears like a perfect blend of orange-red on my skin tone. I find it slightly similar to my previous shade “I eat mainly lobster”, just that Cajun shrimp is more subtle on my hands. It also imparts a full-color pay off in just 1-2 swipes; I do need a second swipe for an even tone and smooth finish. However, it maintains a subtle translucency in the finish and won’t come up as a fully opaque finish with two coats. But, I am fine with the lightweight and buildable coverage.
It also has a perfect consistency neither runny nor thick, just right enough to deliver an even tone and saturated finish on the nails without looking goopy or patchy. Although the shade screams spring, I equally enjoy sporting it in any season, considering its bright spicy tones which compliment my skin tone very well. It also stays for good 6-7 days on my nails before peeling off from the edges and corner of the nails.
Now, I have realised the importance of using a top coat, regardless of wearing OPI or Loreal or even Christian Louboutin nail paint. The key for a long lasting finish is to wear a top coat. However, a shade surviving a week without peeling or chipping is definitely commendable and if you stay away from water then, it will survive longer. Overall, I am in love with this shade as corals are my weakness and I would definitely recommend this color to everyone!
