Oriflame Giordani Gold Gel Eyeliner (Deep Green) Review

When it comes to make-up my staples have always been lipstick, blush and most importantly eyeliner. As someone who wears spectacles, I was always a bit unsure of whether eyeliners would ever look good on me or whether they would even be visible infact. Then a few years back when I was just starting graduation a friend of mine mentioned in passing that makeup doesn’t necessarily have to be used to make ourselves beautiful to the outside world; but infact its just something to make ourselves happy and lend a feel good factor. Hence started my love for eyeliners:) I can forget blush and forgo wearing a lipstick, but I never forget to wear my eyeliners.

Over the years I’ve collected and used eye liner of all types, mechanical, pencil, liquid, but gel liners is something I started using only after I started reading IMBB articles. 🙂 So in past few months I have been purchasing gel liners and I have them in Black, Brown and Blue but could never find a Green shade which I liked. So when I saw this Green gel liner in the April Oriflame Catalogue I simply had to get it.

Product Claim: Creamy gel eyeliner with a silky, smooth finish and the precise application of a liquid liner. Apply in a sleek line or smudge for a soft focus effect. Doesn’t run and dries quickly for incredibly long lasting wear and intense coverage.

Giordani Gold Gel Eyeliner Deep Green

My take on the product:

I have used this liner 4 times exactly till date and can’t quite make up my mind about it. The color has a respectable staying power but tends to fade after 5 hours or so. The pigmentation is so-so and I had to dip & swipe about 4-5 times to get a good, dense amount of color on my eyes. On the upside, it dries pretty fast and has a matte effect. Though I’m fond of liner with a bit of shine like Lakme, I don’t mind matte shades. But this color looks really dry and flaky on the lids.

A bonus for this product is the packaging…The container is made of plastic, hence one would not feel too worried if it fell down. Otherwise, we get to so worried with MAC ke chote dibbi’s which can easily chip or shatter. Additionally, even though the container is a plastic one, it doesn’t look cheap and still manages to look very classy with its gold colored screw top lid.

Below is the swatch of the eyeliner.

Pros of Giordani Gold Gel Eyeliner

• Dries quickly.
• Comes in a cute plastic container; hence, no fear of shattering or breaking. This a boon for klutzy people like me 🙂
• Quantity is good and will last a looooong time.
• Easy on the pocket 🙂

Cons of Giordani Gold Gel Eyeliner Deep Green

• Doesnot come with a brush which would have been very convenient. However, the brush is available separately.
• Have to swipe repeatedly to get a decent amount on the lid.
• It dries matte and hence people who like the glossy look may not prefer this.
• Pigmentation leaves a lot to be desired.

Will I buy it again: Nope. This itself will never get over and I’d like to try some other good gel liner in a green shade as well.

    1. Exactly..Its easy on the pockets and the dibbi is soooo cute..but the color is soo…ehhh! Gel liners r known for their super pigmentation, but this one bites the dust! :idk: :idk:

        1. Hey Rati..I saw some gel liner pens available on some site..I cant recall which one, but I was a bit surprised, coz I dint think gel liners came ina pencil form…Do they really??

  3. I did not like this at all…..it does not show up on my eyes only :((

  5. Thanks for the review Zara.I am always tempted to pick up these products but now i probably wont.

i was checking out the eye pencils from Lakme the other day. definitely worth a dekho. They were pretty nice especially the copper one – 275 bucks. like I read somewhere copper, browns etc are suitable for ppl who have dark circles too since there is isnt too much black’ going around the eye area.

    1. Hey cool, I dint know about this copper, browns wala funda..Thanks for the tip Aruna! :thanks:

Yep, even I have lots of Lakme’s…But I find the 9 to 5 range the best…The Glide ons look really nice, but they smudge too easily on my lids.. 🙁

      1. most welcome. i even picked up the order slip from the lady at the Lakme counter but changed my mind and never went back.

do try them. I think if they smudge maybe you can use them as an eyeshadow also.

  6. i saw it & wanted it instantly.. gel liner & tht too at such a less price but when i saw thts its only available in green color.. i resisted buying it 😐 … & now wid ur review , i’m happy wid my decision.. thanxx zara.. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
