Outfit : How to wear – Tropical prints, orange and mint

LOTD: How to wear – Tropical prints, orange and mint

So after a LOT of postponement, fussing with my clothes, deciding on outfits, finding a place to shoot and so on, here’s my very first LOTD post!!! I hope you like it. It’s very hot these days in Bangalore, so I mostly wear flowing fabrics or sleeveless tops – spaghettis, halters, razorbacks and so on.

Now if you’ve been following this season’s trends, the shades tangerine, mint and neon versions of almost any colour are all the rage on every major runway. Tropical prints have also made a splash at most of the Resort wear collections too. Essentially, this season is about embracing change, about being open to experimentation, and having fun in the process with all the bright colours and unique prints.

I love mixing and matching, and so I decided – why not wear my three favourites all at once? No, you will NOT end up looking like a walking rainbow – it is possible and you can look great using these three trends. I look a little windswept since well, it was a windy day 😛

I picked up this lovely top with orange tropical flowers when I was in Pondicherry – on its own it has a very plunging neckline that may be considered a leeetle too scandalous here 😛 😛 so I paired it with a plain black camisole. Since the top in itself is very flowy and breezy, the extra layer doesn’t feel too stuffy. I paired it with my favorite dark washed jeans, and added another splash of pastel-bright (sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? 😛 but that’s the best way to describe this one!) orange as footwear. My bag is a bright orange as well, so all in all I have combined different shades of orange, and the mint nails and jeans make for a good contrast.

I kept the accessories simple – a white necklace I got as a gift from Goa, basic silver earrings and a few bangles – the focus here is the top, followed by the bag. My nails are of the shade Tecnologia Brevettata from Deborah Milano (why do they have such unpronounceable names anyway?!!! It’s just mint! Sigh :P) – earlier I was hesitant to try this colour but now I simply adore it.

Finally, the shoes – I bought them just two days ago, and it was love at first sight. I think Jomo knows how much I complain about not getting shoes my size (I’m 5’10 tall and a size 9 in footwear – India mein mera size milna mushkil hi nahin, naamumkin hai!!! 😥 😥 ) so I was ecstatic when I bought these – have a look.

Well, that’s it for now. I had a lot of fun with this look – I hope you liked it too! Let me know what you think!! Xx

        1. :O Orange marie it must be ages since I had it! Been crazily busy at work so haven’t been posting much here 🙁 I wore orange from Colorama (Maybelline) but it chips waaay too much :spank: :spank:

          1. I know same here…so grab a couple of packs and keep in your office :jiggy1: :jiggy1: I love it, can eat non-stop :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: I wore from LA Colors and even I think the first chipping did not take too long to happen…may be 2-3 days.. :spank: :spank:

  9. Very nice look! Admire your height! Am dying to work more orange into my wardrobe, so thrilled to see this post. And I was eyeing that bag from fny too. maybe on the next sale!

  10. GOOD GRIEF! 😯 You are so tall that if we were to stand together, I would look like one of Snow White’s dwarves next to you. :((

Great pictures though and awesome idea. :yahoo: I have always wondered how to mix and match colour trends. I love the top! :woot: :woot: :woot: The print is just so happy. :happydance: And I am so going to look for that nail paint in mint. No unpronounceable names for me though. I am just going to go and tell the SA to show me nail paint which has the colour of Center Fresh.

By the way, the first picture is lovely and it could have been perfect if you were not slouching so much. :waiting: :waiting: Or was it just one of those pictures that was clicked at the wrong moment? :silly: I have noticed this with a lot of tall people that they slouch a lot. Why? :struggle: If they were my mother’s children, she would probably break their backs rapping them with sticks and yelling, “Straighten up!” 😛 😛 😛

    1. Hi JW… i am tall 5’8… and i was slouching a lot for some unknown reason as u said.. when i hit my college and crossed the “self-conscious” phase of life i kind-of straightened on my own..

    2. Haha Jabberwocky, well I was actually trying to balance myself and the bag, since this was shot on a terrace with no railings    so yup, wrong moment and I was in a hurry too! :/ of course there will be better pics next time O:) O:) also, I tend to get all bleh during the heat and don’t walk with any purpose. I didn’t realise the bag had handles, I could’ve just held it with my hands :headbang: :headbang:

    3. same here JW. My mom used to do that as well. 😛 😛

  11. good post 🙂 and u are very tall. Actually all this weight loss thing gave me an idea.. Rati…. remember… last year u guys had a weight loss challenge on IMBB.. y dnt we do the same this year.. it could be funnn.. i am doc (A lazy one!!) so I can plan a diet and post it and people interested can participate. This could be funnn.

Let me know what you guys think 🙂

    1. Thanks 🙂 yeah I had spoken to Rati earlier about this as well, where we maintain a fitness diary sort of a thing where we outline our goals and what we did to achieve them!

      1. deepa…such a g8 idea..i wanna reduce weight..but hate walking..love ice cream and chocolates..so am ready for the imbb challenge…anyone ready for the challenge????

        1. Ginny.. i cn plan a diet with chocs and ice cream (but very limited quantities)… no walking needed.. there are so many things one can do to lose weight.. walking is just one of them.. I am completely in for it… if we get lots of responses..we can make this happen.. what say??

          1. Ice cream and chocolate are of course yummy, but in the long run – not good at all for health. So I’d suggest you mix it up – have lots of fruits and veggies, drink milk, and also lots of water because sometimes when you crave a snack – you may actually need water because the feeling we get when we are thirsty and hungry are similar. That’s one good way to curb cravings. If you want to lose weight, you should do some form of intense cardio – walking or jogging, or cycling, or swimming, and then later move on to strength training 🙂 If you just want to be fit and toned then combine strength and cardio!

            1. yes exactly. if u follow a rigid diet.. limited quantities of chocs on rare occasions is fine.. its nt gnna harm u..

    2. yeah deepa but I sort of don’t go by diets now. it is very difficult for me to do that i realize. 🙁 so now i just eat healthy. dont eat junk and mostly eat food at home. I am one of those popel who can have all three meals out and I was dining a lot outside. that i have got to bare minimum. may be you guys could do it together. it works. 🙂

      1. I’m not advocating a rigid diet, Deepa, cuz that seldom works, you just end up binge eating later. Just avoid junk as far as possible and eat healthy, like Rati said 🙂 lots of fruits and veggies, and mainly protein like daal, eggs (without the yolk) and so on.

        1. Oh I didnt make myself clear. What I meant by rigid diet is a well balanced diet and no junk food or shall i say very limited junk food. I also meant not binge eating but eating at right times and the right quantity.

          1. Oh kk 🙂 yup, that’s the best way to be!! Also in summer now drink lots of juice, moru/buttermilk, panna etc etc and eat fruits like watermelon 🙂 Yeah you’re right Deepa and binge eating usually happens when we are thirsty or tired, so in that case one should always drink cold water, helps curb that feeling like I mentioned. Junk and all can be had maybe once in ten days or something not more.
