Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil Review

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil Review

Hi Guys,

I’m back with another review, after a long break. I was holidaying in India and even though I didn’t contribute in a long while, I was always checking IMBB out and reading the reviews. I have been using Palmer’s products for some time now and have already reviewed a couple of them.  I like the subtle cocoa butter fragrance that all Palmer’s products contain.  I had purchased the moisturizing body oil at the beginning of winter and have almost finished the bottle now. I was attracted to this product because it was from the Palmer’s brand and also because it read “fast absorbing.”

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil Review

Product Description:

Lightly scented body oil specifically formulated with pure Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E to help soften and soothe rough, dry skin. This rich formula absorbs quickly, allowing you to put on even the most delicate of fabrics immediately.

Active ingredients:

Cocoa butter:  Cocoa Butter addresses skin concerns such as roughness, loss of elasticity, scars and dryness. Cocoa Butter is an all natural skin conditioning plant extract loaded with essential fatty acids. It softens and protects by diminishing water loss – keeping skin hydrated and supple.

Vitamin E:  Vitamin E is contained in all Palmer’s products. This top antioxidant enhances the protective function of skin and decreases the appearance of lines, wrinkles and scars by keeping cells hydrated.

Ingredients

Price:

Around AUD 10.

Use Before:

24 months from opening.

My Experience with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil:

This is the very first body oil I have ever tried.  I started using The Body Shop Beautifying Oil only later on. This product comes in a plastic bottle with a flip flop cap. The oil is quite runny and has a light yellow colour. It has a light yet nice fragrance. I have tried this product in three different ways.

1. Used after showering as moisturizing oil.
2. Used in the bath by adding it to the running water.
3. Applied the oil before showering, waited for an hour, and then showered using a sulphate-free shower gel.

Body Oil

I liked all three methods but the pre-shower and in-shower methods were much better. This is because the oil does not sink in very easily as claimed.  Even though the oil claims to be “fast absorbing,” it is not really that fast absorbing. I like The Body Shop Shea Butter Beautifying Oil better in this aspect.  Even though the oil doesn’t sink in very fast, it doesn’t stain my clothes and I can get dressed immediately after applying the oil.  If I use the oil in the night, my skin feels lightly moisturized the next day.  Since I used this during the winters, I also used to alternate this with body butters. However, if using during summers only, the body oil is enough to give moisture. One big problem with this product is the bottle; it leaks easily and can only be stored in the washroom. I don’t know why they didn’t pay much attention to the bottle’s packaging.

Pros of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil:

  • Lighter than body butters, can be used as a moisturizer which doesn’t make skin feel heavy.
  • Contains cocoa butter as well as vitamin E to give moisturization for skin.
  • The bottle, priced as AUD 10 is worth the price as a little goes a long way.
  • The oil even though not super absorbing does not feel heavy and does not stain clothes.
  • Quite a subtle fragrance which can be used throughout the day.

Cons of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil:

  • The bottle once opened starts to leak and has to always be stored in the washroom in an upright position.
  • The oil is not fast absorbing compared to Body Shop oils.
  • Cannot be taken along while travelling because of the bottle.

Tip:

Always use immediately after showering on damp skin to maximise the absorption.

IMBB Rating:

4/5.

Will I Repurchase Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil?

Not immediately. I used to be really impressed with this body oil at first, but after I started using The Body Shop Beautifying Oil, I might stick to the Body Shop oil as I like it more.

  1. Im lazy with moisturising – so i love the concept of body oils but i dont like the smell of this one at all … but if you can get past this, then its a great product for moisturising in hot and humid climates – personally id reccommend the Forest essential body oils, they smell better 😛

  2. I have never tried Forest essentials as it is an Indian brand it is not available here….Im using the body shop one for spring now and am liking it …..
Yeah, the smell is the typical palmers smell most of the palmers products have the same smell i dont mind it though ….
