Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA Review

Hello friends,

How are you doing today? I am excited to share my first purchase from a well-known skin care brand – Paula’s Choice. I have read a lot about their skin care products and was tempted to try stuff from this brand. Moreover, I was looking for effective BHA/AHA infused liquid treatment for my acne-prone skin and this liquid treatment is just apt for my sensitive skin with 2% BHA content apart from Hyaluronic acid.  I am so glad to share my first product with you all though I am planning to try another variant from their range next time as I have heard that it works even better than this BHA liquid.  So, let’s check out more details about this Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment With 2% BHA.

My Experience with Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA:

Well, the liquid skin treatment comes in an opaque plastic bottle packaging with narrow opening and tight fit cap. It does have quite a strong salicylic acid smell which feels quite like freshly cut garlic-onion wedges 😛 The smell usually subsides as the liquid gets absorbed into my skin within a few minutes. I find the packaging quite user friendly and travel friendly.

Coming to the product, it is almost a transparent liquid solution, like water with very runny consistency. I have really a tough time trying to keep it in my hands while massaging it on to my skin as it leaks through my finger gaps. Oh yes, I know we can use cotton pads for this purpose, but I feel that cotton pads absorb most of this precious liquid and hardly a little remains for my skin, hence I prefer using my finger tips for massaging this liquid onto my skin. At least, I am assured that I can make better use of this solution on my skin than simply soaking it in a cotton ball. I wish the consistency was a bit thick though.

Keeping aside its texture, I am quite impressed with the results that it shows on my skin. I was going through bad skin days when I started on this BHA liquid a month ago, but after that, I am noticing improved skin texture.  I was suffering from blackheads on my nose and chin area that haunted me every night, but this liquid exfoliant exposed them to surface with regular usage while I scrubbed them off with my Bosica Sponge exfoliant easily. In fact, this liquid works overnight to unclog pores and brighten skin tone, eliminating rough patches on the skin with regular use.

I have seen that it clears away dirt and grime off my so-called cleansed and squeaky clean face when I wipe it with a cotton pad, and that was unbelievable to me. I feel that ever since I started with this BHA liquid exfoliant, my skin feels much softer, cleaner, and glowing as if I am doing a mini facial at home (no red or bumpy skin).

It keeps blemishes and breakouts at bay, especially in summers. I haven’t seen any anti-ageing effect on my skin yet. I mean I am noticing first signs of ageing on my forehead and around the lips, and I don’t see any prominent change in those lines.  Though they appear a bit smooth, but that’s because I am using a different skin care regime as well. I usually prefer using it at bedtime because of the finish which is a bit tricky for day time usage. Whether I swipe it with a cotton ball or finger tips, it leaves behind a shining finish, but surprisingly, I could not detect any residue upon touching my skin. It is just that my skin shines a bit, but there’s no residue left behind, if you know what I mean!

Whatsoever, it’s tricky for day time use, I find it slight sticky though the stickiness and smell subsides after a while, but I cannot take a chance when I am in a hurry.  I did find that it is slightly drying on my skin when I used it initially, but it was just a temporary effect of using BHA on the skin as I feel quite comfortable after a month now with almost no side effects, just clean and clear skin.

I do not use night cream over this liquid at bedtime and by the time I wake up, I can see droplets of oil on my face beneath clear, soft skin, which reveals that it might not help in controlling oil, but it sure helps to clear the pores from within. I can clearly feel soft skin with each passing day, though it worries me a lot to see that once I skip using it on my skin, problems start haunting me again (I remember how much I missed this lotion during my trip), but I know we are never going to get rid of it forever. I will definitely recommend this liquid to every woman, especially people with acne-prone skin, large pores (combination, normal, oily skin beauties). Personally, I am thinking about getting its gel variant next time around as the watery consistency bothers me a bit, but it is no doubt a winner clearly.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA:

  • A light-weight skin refining liquid exfoliant infused with BHA, HA, etc.
  • Gets absorbed into the skin easily, leaving behind a shine that subsides after a while.
  • Does not sting or irritate acne-prone or sensitive skin.
  • Helps in clearing out clogged pores; brings dirt, grime on surface.
  • Gently clears away dirt, oil, dry patches, flaky skin.
  • Clears blackheads within a week.
  • Keeps blemishes, zits away.
  • Does not dry out my skin, does not accentuate oily skin issues.
  • Whether we use it as target treatment or on the whole face, it never fails to impress.
  • Clears clogged pores, improves skin texture and overall complexion within a week or so while regular usage helps to maintain healthy glowing skin texture with no blemishes, zits and/or blackheads like a dream.
  • User friendly and travel-friendly packaging.

Cons of Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA:

  • Water consistency is a bit tricky.
  • Leaves a shine on my skin.
  • Feels a bit sticky on the skin, but it later subsides.
  • Once I stop using it, my skin problems recur.
  • I have not seen any anti-ageing benefits from this lotion even with regular use up to 1.5 months.

That tacky feeling and watery consistency are my concerns and that can ruin the effects of this product. I have heard that there’s another variant available which has a perfect consistency.  It is a must try for people who want to clean their pores and skin from within, this liquid has everything to keep your skin clean and clear. I know that we can never get rid of certain problems, but this BHA liquid exfoliant works on minor problems and keeps them away.

  1. Too bad it doesn’t come in a spray bottle. It seems like worth a try but not sure about the onion-garlic smell. I think, I’ll wait for the review of the other variant. Thanks for the review! 🙂

    1. Yes René I dunno if spray bottle wud be gud idea coz it might cause more mess n lead to wastage. Not to forget this PDT not intended to put in eyes so spray mechanism wont b ideal. However they can work on its consistency to make it bit workable. 🙂 I really love this tonic and may b soon I might get its other variant, but first have to finish this off 🙂 n yeah smell might b real tricky 😀 its almost like fermented onion garlic smell the one u get from sirka onions lol :p

  2. I had an inclination that Paula’s choice products might be amazing and I am so glad to see it worked wonders for ur self proclaimed weird skin type ..!! I might try some of the other products from this brand designed for dry skin
