My Experience with Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant:

Packaging: Comes in a simple plastic bottle with a hole dispenser. I like the fact that the bottle is not transparent; hence, the ingredients are protected from degrading quickly.

Texture and Application: This is a watery, runny liquid. It is recommended to pour some on a cotton pad and apply onto skin but to avoid wastage I take some on my fingertips and apply as quickly as I can before it slips through the cracks of my fingertips; not the most efficient way to do it, but I make it work.
Once applied onto the skin, it sinks in quickly and does not feel very greasy, or sticky, which I guess is the advantage of using such liquid based product as opposed to a lotion or gel. Due to this quality, I find it very easy to layer it under my skincare routine to give it a boost.

Usage and Results: I have fairly good skin but lately I have been suffering with lot of breakouts which is when I started using this product. I find this product to be highly beneficial to help heal my acne breakouts. I use it in the night on affected areas. Though I didn’t see results immediately I do think it helps reduce my acne flare-ups with regular use and helps calm my skin. I immediately see the difference on days I have used it vs when I have taken a few days of gap. Though I haven’t seen it completely heal my acne as of now, I do think if you use it with the right combination of products (lately I have been pairing it with a Vitamin C serum to help with the acne scaring), it has a potential to give you clear skin. I can see my skin getting better with every passing day. I do have dry skin and I did not find this product to aggravate dry patches on my skin, but I do always layer this up with a moisturizer and facial oil.

I also get my husband to use this product, whose skin type is oily and unlike me he suffers from enlarged pores and gets lot of black heads. On him this product is very efficient in keeping his pores cleaner longer (between extraction sessions every few months) but it does not reduce the size of pores (which is a genetic thing and no product can alter that). But with regular and gentle exfoliation, this product makes his pores less prominent.
Overall I am very impressed with this product. Both of us use it consistently despite having complete opposite skin types and it works for both of us. Paula’s Choice products are known for their clinically proven list of ingredients and I like how she avoids harmful ingredients like fragrances in her products (this product has a medicinal scent, which does not linger for long). I will recommend this.
