Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Straightening Balm Review

Hello everyone,

Today, I would like to share with you an amazing discovery during my recent shopping trip. I usually am more into makeup and skin care than hair care, but every now and then, I come across a product which turns into a HG product for me. This is one of them. It is the Phyto Phytodéfrisant Botanical Straightening Balm.

Packaging:  I am not a fan of this packaging. Though I like the flip top cap and dispenser, my issue lies with the material that’s used for making the tube. It is a thin and flexible metal tube which does not spring back into shape when squeezed. The super runny and thin texture of this product would make it difficult to control the amount which comes out of the tube when pressed which causes wastage. Plus the tube tends to look ugly when it gets all crumpled up. You only need a coin-sized amount for a single use.

Texture:  This balm is very thin runny gel/liquid. It is easy to spread on the hair and you do not need a whole lot. It does not feel sticky or greasy when it is applied on the hair.

My Experience with Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Straightening Balm:

Let me tell you a bit about my hair and my expectations when I got this product. I have slightly wavy hair which is dry and prone to frizz. My go-to style for my hair is to blow dry and straighten it with a hair iron. The reason I need to straighten it is because blow drying usually causes my hair to become frizzy (even with use of a leave-in conditioner), and makes it dull and lackluster. I do not have a whole lot of damage to my hair because I do not chemically treat it. The two-way heat styling does take a toll on my hair unless I let my hair air dry first before ironing it which is not possible if I am in a hurry.

I wanted a product which could give me the effects of straightened hair in one step while blow drying. I am pleased to say that this product delivered and exceeded my expectations.

This is a heat-activated product hence you do not see any difference in your hair unless you use heat to it. After blow-drying my hair with this product, my hair looks visibly sleeker, smooth, and it no doubt, turns my slightly wavy hair, straight. Though the results are not as poker straight hair you get with an iron (which usually makes my fine hair become flat and lack volume). This product gives my hair a lot of body and bounce and makes my hair feel smoother and softer while imparting a natural-looking shine. I can see a dramatic reduction in frizz and fly away. This makes styling and managing hair so much easier.

Phyto Phytodefrisant Botanical Straightening Balm

I love the fact that this product is 99% natural and free of chemicals like parabens.  The effects of the blow dry usually lasts till my next wash which is every 3-4 days. It does not turn my hair greasy in the meantime.

Fragrance:  I do not notice any scent.

Overall, I love it! It’s the best hair product that I have used so far. I will continue using it and repurchase it if I ever do run out, which will be after a long time.

  1. 99% natural sounds superb Neha. We have the same hair type – mine is also wavy that turns frizzy often. I also prefer to straighten my hair for it is easier than blow drying. I own a philips air dryer and if I use it properly with Loreal Smoothing Cream, it gives good results. A friend is returning from the States and I am making a list of products, will add this one to it. Love it! 🙂
