Pixi Pure Fuchsia Mattelustre Lipstick Review

After reviewing the shade “Coral Red” from the Pixi Mattelustre lipsticks range, I am reviewing the shade “Pure Fuchsia”. These lipsticks were launched by Pixi sometime in mid of last year, but I got around to using these recently. So, read on to find out more about how this shade fared on me.

My Experience with Pixi Pure Fuchsia Mattelustre Lipstick:

Packaging:
This lipstick comes in a cute mint colored plastic tube. There is a colored band at the bottom which matches the shade of the lipstick. A sticker on the bottom carries the name of the lipstick. The packaging is very simple and there is no other print on the tube except a very classy looking “Pixi” in light mint color.

Shade/Pigmentation:
Pure Fuchsia is indeed a pretty fuchsia shade. I love these kind of pink shades and can never have enough of them. This particular shade is quite wearable since the pigmentation of the lipstick is slightly on the sheer side as the lipstick does not deliver a bold opaque color. While one swipe does cover the lips, 2 swipes give a better opaque finish. Layering does not lead to any clumping.

Texture/Finish /Lasting Power:
The texture of the lipstick feels more like a balm than a lipstick. It applies pretty well on the lips with no tug at all. The finish is not exactly matte and is demi-matte as Pixi calls it. It has a slight sheen to it which looks lively. I did not notice any plumping effect as advertised.

The lipstick does not feel drying on the lips. It is quite lightweight and feels comfortable. My lips feel soft and supple throughout the time that the lipstick wears.

The staying power is pretty good too and the lipstick lasts around 5-6 hours with light meals. This particular shade leaves a pink stain behind.

Pros of Pixi Pure Fuchsia Mattelustre Lipstick:

• Lovely fuchsia shade
• Decent pigmentation
• Semi-matte finish
• Good staying power – around 5-6 hours
• Does not feel drying
• Classy packaging

Cons of Pixi Pure Fuchsia Mattelustre Lipstick:

• Slightly expensive compared to drugstore lipsticks
• Some of you might not like the pigmentation, which leans towards sheer
• No visible plumping effect

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Pixi Pure Fuchsia Mattelustre Lipstick?
It is a good fuchsia lipstick but not a must-have. So, I would leave the decision to you. I will not repurchase the exact same shade.
