PMD Personal Microderm Kit Review

Hi friends,

Who would not like a day-off at the spa! But for many of us, it simply does not squeeze into our daily schedules and may I also bring attention to the price tag that comes along with it. Since necessity is the mother of invention, I always try to find tools, which I can use at home with equally fabulous results. I had got microdermabrasion done twice and had loved the results. Hence when I found out about PMD along with the rave reviews it got, I was eager to try it. It required a lot of contemplation as the price associated with the device made me really weak in the knees. I finally took the plunge and from the past 2 years, I am really happy with the investment and the results that I see on my face.

PMD Personal Microderm Kit

PMD Personal Microderm Kit Packaging:
The PMD I got can be used both on the face and body. It comes in 5 different colors and I chose the grey-green one. The device is very lightweight and comes with a replaceable head for fitting the discs. The discs have minute aluminum oxide crystals to provide exfoliation. The broader discs are to be used on body while the discs with smaller surface area are for the face.

It includes one white disc to be used for ultra-sensitive skin/while training to learn using the tool, 2 blue discs each for sensitive face and body, one green disc each for body and face for moderate exfoliation. Once the discs are placed on the device, it needs to be covered with plastic caps (also provided in the kit). These plastic caps help to create a vacuum suction on the skin. The broader cap is to be used while using PMD on body while the smaller cap is for the face. The device has an electric power cord. It also comes with a DVD with very clear instructions along with a written manual.

My Experience with PMD Personal Microderm Kit:

I had initially started using PMD with the white disc, but I am more comfortable using the blue disc now. The method to use the device is to run it along the facial/body skin. I usually run it once or twice over an area as hovering too much on the same region would cause inflammation. PMD should be not used near the sensitive skin region of the eyes. The cap creates a vacuum suction on the skin surface which pulls it closer to the spinning disc which exfoliates. So, as you move the device on the face, both vacuum suction and spinning disc work in combination.

Once I finish using the PMD, I can see a lot of dead skin debris collected at its filter, which proves that it removes the upper dead layers. I can feel my skin smoother and more even. I also find that my serum and face cream get absorbed significantly better. I do not have any blemish on my face, but the device is believed to work well on blemishes and wrinkles as it removes the dead upper layers of the skin.

Since it is a dermabrasion treatment, it brings increased blood flow towards the skin. I find my face mildly flush, but then that subsides in 30 minutes. My skin texture feels way better after using PMD. The exfoliation provided by the spinning disc is more efficient than any regular exfoliator. It can be used weekly, but I found that it suits my skin better if I use it every 3 weeks.

I have observed noticeable results on my face after using the product. I used to be constantly plagued with blackheads on my nose, but after using this device, it has been no more a worry of mine. Though the first few attempts with the device was a bit difficult as the suction pump on my face tickled, but now, I have become a pro at it. I find it very convenient to use as it saves lot of time and money.

If you have used Clarisonic’s MIA, you would know the advantage that it provides above just regular face wash. I find PMD one notch above Mia as it provides a more aggressive and deeper cleaning of the skin. It is not a device, which should be used regularly, but more as a weekly treatment. I have used this device only on my face for the sheer reason that I do not have the patience to work on the large surface area of my body 😛

Would I Repurchase/Recommend PMD Personal Microderm Kit?
I have been using it for the past 2 years and it still functions as new. Once it breaks down, then yes, I will buy it again. I would highly recommend this product to you, but only if you have got microdermabrasion done and liked its effect on your skin. It is a costly product but a very good investment for your skin.

    1. Ya Vidhi….I recommend that if you like Clarisonic then try getting a microdermabrasion done before moving on to PMD
