Pond’s Gold Radiance Day Cream SPF 15 PA++ Review

This my debut on IMBB & I am super excited to post this article. :D  Before I go on with my review, I would like to Thank Rati, Sanjeev & all the members of IMBB for this wonderful blog! Thumbs up IMBB has got me hooked on to it, & has opened me upto the beautiful world of make-up!

I have never been a make-up person, in fact I was not even bothered about how good or bad I look until now!(It run’s in the family! :P) But now after being bitten by the IMBB bug I am eager to try more products & review them too. So here it is…

2 weeks back mom & I visited a Health&Glow store because mom was looking for some anti-aging solutions. The pushy SA’s were persuading us to buy something from the Pond’s Gold radiance range. I was least bit interested as i am especially skeptical of those products that are promoted by the SAs, as i feel that the product is not good enough to speak for itself!

Pond's Gold Radiance

Pond's Gold Radiance

Negligently I tried the patch test, the SA claimed that the Pond’s cream contained real gold particles which penetrate the skin & reduce the signs of aging. They also protect the skin from external damage.[I wondered how much gold was present in the product, considering that gold prices have sky rocketed! :sarcasm: ]

She applied a little cream on my hand & blended it. The Pond’s cream spread & blended well, I could see that my hand had a mild shimmer, on closer inspection i could see the gold particles. I just fell for this. I thought the shimmer would add to the glow & the face would appear brighter. After much thought we picked it up!

The Product: Pond’s Gold Radiance youthful glow day cream SPF 15 PA++ with real gold microparticles

Cost: Rs 499/-

Quantity:25ml

Packaging: Pond’s Gold Radiance Day Cream comes in an easy to use pump.

Appearance:It is off-white in colour due to the presence of gold dust.

Product’s claim: Recapture the radiance of your youth with this luxurious day cream, infused with real gold micro particles. Clinically proven to lift away dullness & reveal your skin’s youthful radiance. Provides SPF 15 & PA++ to protect the skin against UVA & UVB rays. With regular use, your fine lines, wrinkles & age spots will fade from sight as luminosity is reinvigorated. Skin feels revitalized & more alive every day.

Non-Comendogenic

Dermatologist Tested.

Other Products in this Range:Precious Youth Serum, Youth Reviving Eye-cream, Youthful Night Repair, Radiance Boosting Cleansing Mousse, Radiance Revealed Facial Foam.

My experience: The first time I applied the Pond’s cream, it felt greasy.(I always felt i had combination skin because it is usually oily on the T-zone & mostly have break outs on that area, but the dermatologist said it’s normal-dry, so i’m confused :-? . Yet i assume I have combination skin). It left a shine on my cheeks(not due to the glitter of the gold dust, but an oily shine). The glitter is not very visible, they can be seen only on when you look closely. It had imparted a very tanned or bronzed look to my face. After a while when I looked into the mirror, My face had turned grey & it appeared as though i had dunked my face into a can of oil. I just had to wash my face then, but once i washed my face, my skin was glowing! .

My mom too had a similar experience. When she applied it for the first time, her face too turned oily (she has absolutely normal skin). In fact, her friends also asked her why she hadn’t washed her face!Sad smile. That was more than enough for us to dump the cream! but again, when she washed her face…voila! she was glowing! Her skin seemed bright & soft!

Looking at that I thought of giving Pond’s cream another shot! The second time, I applied in the evening & it worked very well! My face looked bright with a mild shimmer. There was absolutely no greasiness & my skin didn’t appear tanned. I was very happy with the result. I thought maybe, the first time it just went wrong. But the horror repeated the next morning. So I concluded that I would use it only in the evenings henceforth. It makes me feel this cream would work better as a gold face mask. The cream also provides some coverage, but not sufficiently. It can be used as base for make-up.

POSITIVES:

  • The Packaging is very good.It comes in an easy to use pump.
  • It’s easy to carry around. Travel friendly.
  • Works well in the evenings.
  • Can be used as a base for make-up.
  • Has broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 PA++
  • Has anti-ageing benefits.
  • Didn’t break me out.

NEGATIVES:

  • Expensive for the quantity provided.
  • Gives a tanned look during day time.
  • Becomes greasy during the day.

Will I re-purchase it? No! I have had mixed reactions to this product. I would rather spend my money on trying other products, in my quest to find the best!

Nice review Niharika…..and welcome to IMBB.

I wonder whether the gold particles get absorbed into the skin :O
The skin cells are so tiny and as u said the particles are visible….so how could they penetrate and work into the skin cells….phwew me confused ?:-) ?:-)

Neways…..is that Konad Nail Art you using??
I also have this similar butterfly plate…. :-)

Hey friends, being a chemistry post graduate i knew that gold is really good for skin as well as health. Science believe that gold atoms diffuses from jewelery into skin (in long term use of gold ornaments) in a very slow rate and helps minimising free radicals.
Eversince i saw ad of gld radience, i ws tempted like bee tempted to honey :-P but after your review Radhika, i think i shouldn’t hurry u cos i too hv oily skin.
Anyways, nice review n welcome to IMBB, its a small happy family here… :-)) :-))

HI Niharika..

Thanks for the review. i was using ponds flawless range so far and was doing fine. now suddenly all the flawless white day creams have disappeared from the stores and the store people are telling that they have stopped receiving the product.so i thought i would buy gold radiance instead.yesterday i went to the stores to try it out and was not convinced by the gold radiance application on my skin, though i can see the gold-like particles in the cream.and the skin started looking shiny with the gold-like particles very visible to the eye.so i just dumped it and bought olay white radiance instead.

Hi Niharika

Your review is a complete eye opener to many. I had a very good experience with Ponds age miracle Serum so i thought to try out the Gold radiance day cream ,but it was a total dissapointment..After using it i felt ,as though i looked 4 shades darker. It looked as though i got tanned very badly..Just waiting for the cream to get over…I am using it as night cream as of now and a makeup base.

Thanks for the review. I have stopped using all creams, but had a temptation to buy this one! Nowadays I just use Lakme peach and plum moisturizer (100 ml costs just 130 and would last at least 2 months because u need just 2 or 3 drops) for the sake of moisturizing alone. I have stopped getting facials done and just use things like honey, egg white, almond oil, (pulankilanghu maavu – I don’t know what they call in English) and curd whenever i get time in the weekends! I think this is damn cheap and works even better than the miracle creams that empties ur purse!

Hi All,

I don’t know how you people take it, mine also normal to dry skin tone.
I use both Eye cream and Day cream of Ponds from December to till date.

Yes, it works really good :) many people have given positive feedback to me after they see the changes in my face.
First day i also felt the Greece after applying, but after 3 days its normal. i apply little powder once i apply and leave it for 5 mins before i go out.

so if you realy try out for 1 week you know the result.
Now i surfing to purchase the product for second time :)
