Pond’s Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam with Activated Carbon

I admit I don’t really use much Pond’s products, but I was drawn to this because of the ‘activated carbon’. Now what is activated carbon? Or more importantly, what does it do for your skin?

Here’s a product description from Pond’s that briefly explains:

Pond’s Pure White Facial Foam has the technology of activated carbon that attracts deep-seated “black” dirt caused by impurities, oil, and makeup to reveal a pure white you. It is the first of its kind to be formulated with activated carbon, which works with “black attracts black”. Carbon when heated or “activated” becomes 8x porous; hence, increasing its ability to detoxify and gently exfoliate dead skin cells while retaining the needed moisture.

I really liked the idea of my skin being gradually detoxified of impurities by a daily facial wash. Plus I’d read a little bit about activated carbon being taken internally to treat certain problems, such as poisoning, though this information is not something I can personally attest to. It just seemed interesting to try to see if there would be any benefits of using this on my skin. I also liked the sleek, all-black packaging!

I noticed also that like most Pond’s products, this aims to whiten the skin, but that aspect of the product isn’t especially important to me. In fact I don’t usually go for whitening facial products. While I’d love for my dark pimple scars to be lightened, I’m afraid that my face will look whiter than the rest of my body! What I wanted to see was how this would clean my face and if it would help with my pimples.

The facial wash is a pearly grey colour, is creamy with no exfoliating beads, and is mildly scented. I generally like this product, but find that I can’t use it too often.

PROS of Pond’s Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam with Activated Carbon

1. I find the slim black tube it’s packaged in quite sleek and pretty.
2. Affordable at approximately $2 or Rp. 92 for a 50g tube.
3.
Lathers well, so that I only need a small amount each time.
4. Effectively and thoroughly cleans, which makes it great to use after removing makeup. This removes all traces of it. My face feels squeaky clean after each use.
5. Seems to dry out some pimples.
6. I like that it doesn’t have a strong scent, although ideally I like my facial products unscented.

CONS of Pond’s Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam with Activated Carbon

1. A few times, when my skin was a bit irritated from the cold weather, I noticed some small, rash-like spots on my forehead after use, but these went away quickly and my skin didn’t itch or anything. Background info on my skin: it is sensitive, dry, and acne prone. So, a slight warning to those with sensitive skin- before using this product on the face, test it first on your inner arms/wrists.

2. Using this facial wash consecutively, once in the morning and once at night, for weeks straight, dried out my skin. I now prefer using it only when I’ve used makeup and have to remove it thoroughly, or at night if my face feels especially dirty.

Overall, I like this product from Pond’s, and feel that it works nicely for the price. I would buy it again when I run out.

    1. Hi Radhika, so sorry but am not sure if it’s available in India. If you read below, you’ll see I’m actually from Manila, as Sanjeev said. This is a new product here. 🙂

  1. i have never seen this, and i want it irrespective of whether it suits my skin type or not, i so loved the cute packaging, :thanks: for the review, and where did u get it from, is it available in india

    1. Sorry Rentu, I got it from a store in Manila. 😐 The packaging is pretty, it looks smaller in actual though…maybe I could send some to Rati and she could do a giveaway here? 🙂 Something like that?

        1. ohhh wow….I din’t know! :))

I have a friend from Manila. He always insist to come and visit Philippines. He says there is this beautiful beach on Boracay island…..its similar to this. Very pretty!!
I wish someday I could go there….meet him and visit Boracay beach too :))

        2. Thanks Sanjeev for letting everyone know. I wasn’t sure whether or not to say I’m actually in Manila, Philippines, and not India…I’m afraid no one would read my posts. :weep: But yup, lots of Pond’s products here- this one was just released recently. 🙂

          1. You are very wrong about that 🙂 We rag and pull everyone’s legs here. You will not be spared either. Your next step is to put your big makeup haul and flaunt and the ladies will worship you and curse you all at the same time.

            1. Heehee LOL…I dunno if I should do that. ?:) But here we don’t have Oriflame or Inglot cosmetics, and I wish we did! :struggle:

              1. You should, Posting makeup haul is our IMBB initiation ceremony..post any MAC, or Clinique, or any perfume haul. Try to show off free products also…in the background sneakily post some ‘Oh, I got these small stuff, dresses, bangles, jewelry etc also’ kind of thing…

Then sit back and relax and wait for the curses to come pouring in…. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

            2. U hav got the gist of all IMBB folllowers :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

                  1. Ida – You don’t send the tube to Rati to do a giveaway..you send it to me…okay if you reallllly realllllllllly want to do a giveaway I can do that too..I will pick myself..    Oh and why are you scared of showing off? I would love to see things that you get in Manila, is okay if the brands aren’t available here…we just love seeing  and then :violinbash:

                    1. Haha Rads. 😛

Okay, I might post about that soon…and then get myself ready for :violinbash: :stars: :stars: :stars: :stars:

    1. Jinal, hehe, cool, you know tagalog! Yup! Salamat. 😀 Boracay beach is indeed beautiful, you should visit sometime. :))

      1. yeah a little I learnt from my friend….. I will surely visit someday….and then meet you too….we’ll hv IMBB meet in Manila…. :yahoo: :yahoo:

  2. Rati, I think they’re different. They’re both black, but the ingredient in the MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is volcanic ash, whereas the Pond’s one has activated carbon…it’s something like coal, but better. :)) Would love to try the MAC one through, read so many good reviews.

    1. Yeah same here. I wonder if they stock it in India, although I have never bothered to check it at the store as well. I have dry skin so I don’t know whether this or that would suit my skin

  3. I have dry skin too, I think this is okay for occasional use, using it daily would be too drying. It’s probably best for oily skin types. The MAC exfoliator I never see here. Not even on the MAC US website, hehe. I find exfoliating good for dry skin too, just not done too often. :))

  4. My 1st face wash ever was Ponds…hehe…    nice review Ida :waytogo: …but i stay away frm ponds face washes coz i feel they strip my face of moisture… 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐

    1. Thanks Farha! 😀 Actually, me too, that’s why I used to avoid Pond’s products, found them drying…but I was intrigued by this one. Well, it’s still drying, but only if I use it everyday. Hehe! Otherwise, it cleanses very thoroughly. :))

  5. Thanks Gabbar. 😀 Oh, the first pic was not taken by me, it’s from Pond’s. I wish I were that good at taking and editing photos. :cute:

  6. Hi, those who wish to use this face wash there is a good news for all of you. As this product is launched in India as you can see it’s TV Commercial. So be happy 😉 😉 O:)
