Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen Review
It has been countless number of times that I have felt myself to be the proud owner of some awesome makeup items by Revlon. When I visit some shopping destination, I simply float on thin air and reach their stalls and pick up stuff checking color and all, but never questioning their quality. Revlon had been my expensive, but safe buy brand till the time, well I am very disappointed to say, my reverie ended. Last month, I picked up a flock of Revlon makeup products – the custom eyes quad, the eye crayons, some nail polishes and lipsticks, and this Colorstay liquid eye pen. Now, I have always heard great reviews about the Lakme Eye Artist, about how nicely and precisely it defines the eyes and most of all, it is waterproof. All Revlon SAs always told me that the Lakme Eye Artist and Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner Pen are just the same. Me, as always a fan of Revlon, went for the Revlon liner pen, little I knew, it will come with a blow to my trust on this brand!!!

How The Website Describes Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen:
The Revlon website describes this as: “No-mess liquid eyeliner creates a precise line from soft to dramatic.”
All was well with the swatching part, I found the liner swatch to be just the blackest black, kind I love. The felt tip is really good, it reminded me of drawing with sketch pens as a kid. The application is very precise, BUT that is only the story of the back of the hand, don’t know, but I found it somewhat difficult to line my eyes with, mostly because the tip is needle sharp and I had to swipe the pen two three times to get a single continuous line. Else, the line was coming all broken in between. Although, it does not sting the waterline, I found it difficult to line the waterline with this sharp tip. I think it is for upper lids only . The liner dries within seconds to give a glossy black finish. The SA told me always to keep the tip downwards to get the liner in the first go.
I liked the liner till this point and was wearing it at home to see how long it lasts and then it was horror. I just splashed my face in the afternoon and the liner came all over my face!!!!!!!!!! I think the last time I wore such a water-loving liner is several years ago, the Lakme Insta Liner, which I think was still better than this!!! I cannot believe how Revlon could come out with this SO SO SO NOT WATERPROOF liner in its Colorstay range!!
I am disappointed to say the least because in Kolkata summer, I cannot imagine what this liner will turn my face into:daayan:
1 Hard rub
1 Drop of water
So overall, I am sure this is the worst Revlon product I have bought so far. Also, I think this liner belongs to the pre-gel liner era, so now that we are used to the dreamy smooth and waterproof gel liners, this product seems to be a huge fiasco.
Pros of Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen:
1) Dark black in color.
2) Precise application, although I did not find it quite nice for lining lower lids. Galz who like ultra thin lining, may like this feature.
3)Did not sting waterline, but the needle tip scared me out of trying it much either :D.
Cons of Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen:
1) This is the perfect eyeliner to add one entry to your makeup disaster diary – IT MELTS PATHETICALLY WITH ONE DROP OF WATER!!!!!! Rather it dissolves like Camel Ink .
2) The tip, although is precise, it is rather difficult to use both on lower and upper lids, it’s too sharp and I had to scratch it twice and thrice to get a visible lining. Application is not smooth.
4) Smudges on little rubbing.
3) Price!! A non waterproof /smudge-proof liner at 500 bucks ??? Why??
1/5……only 1 because the color is a nice shiny black, but of what use is it? It will get “dho dala” in two minutes in the sun
P.S: I was thinking of using it as a tattoo pen
