Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eye Shadow in Periwinkle Review

Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eye Shadow in Periwinkle

Hello Beautiful Ladies,

Few months back Revlon launched their collection of single eye shadows called the shadow links and when I saw them on IMBB I got attracted by the fact that they can be linked together to make a customized palette. I wanted to buy them but never got a chance to do so and then there were bunch of reviews stating that they are an average product. I did get depressed by I still wanted to buy these (as they are pretty affordable). So finally I brought 4 of these. The colors I brought are: copper, lilac, sand and periwinkle. 2 of them have already been covered on IMBB. The color that I will be reviewing today is called periwinkle.

Product quantity: 1.4 gm

Price: Rs 175

Packaging: These single shadows come is a small sized rectangular packaging with a transparent lid. I personally liked the packaging as the transparent lid makes it convenient to recognize the color; its sturdy packaging makes it travel friendly and due to its small size it can be kept even in the smallest size clutches. Now the point that I loved the most is that these singles can be attached to each other to make a palette.

Ingredients: A long list of ingredients can be found on the site, but no ingredient is mentioned on the packaging.

Product Description:

My take on Revlon Colorstay Shadow Links Eye Shadow in Periwinkle:

Color & Pigmentation: Periwinkle is a light shade of royal blue with loads of small sized silver shimmer particles. Usually most of the names given to shadows resemble the actually color but I personally found this name to be quite unique. The color seems to be beautiful in the pan and seems to be perfect for a blue colored evening outfit, but actually the color is so low in pigmentation, that 3-4 coats are required to make the color visible on the lids. In the first coat, only the silver shimmer particles are visible and only after 3 coats the actual color starts to appear. I am not at all impressed with the pigmentation of the shadow and I surly can’t use this for an evening look. But yes, as the color appears to be soft on the lids, it can be used to get a day time cute look. Thankfully I did not hate the color and I will be using this to get blue yet soft looking shadow.

Texture: Texture and blending of the color is the place where this shadow wins. The color is very smooth to feel and extremely easy to blend. The shimmer particles are extremely small and hence do not create any problem in blending nor do they feel heavy on the lids. The color does not appear to be chalky on the lids and it actually gives a beautiful shine to the lids without making them too bold.

Staying Power: This is another fail for this color. As the color has low pigmentation, it does not take much time to start fading. Although these shadows belong to Revlon’s Colorstay line, but you cannot expect the color to stay for the whole day. The color actually does not even stay properly for 4 hours; the only thing that will remain visible on the lids would be the silver shimmer particles.

Overall for me, periwinkle is a very average color which can only be used to get a day time soft look that too if that look is only for few hours.
