I was so excited when this product finally launched in Japan and immediately bought one of them, but it was quickly pulled off the shelves after a few weeks. Was it the right move? Let’s find out.

My Experience with Revlon Colorstay Stockholm Chic Moisture Stain:

Shade: This shade is very warm, dark brown red, very much like a rusty colour when freshly applied. You can apply a sheer layer and have it be lighter. You can also build it up and have it quite dark. It tends to look a more darker brown colour as it sits on the lips.

Staying Power:  I am so conflicted with my opinion on this. Even though I have tested it out well, I don’t feel it’s enough because I feel this product doesn’t stain my lips. Because the shade is so similar to the pigmentation on my lips already, I feel my lips look the same and darker. The red in the shade doesn’t remain on my lips.

Formula: The formula is a little weird on this one. Sometimes, it feels like a watery formula and some other times, it feels a little “waxy” (not really creamy) consistency. If I mix it thoroughly before applying, I don’t get that watery consistency. You do have to take a little more time than a traditional lipstick to get this to work it in to the lips and spread it out.

I would say maybe 10 or 20 seconds more. The doe foot applicator is very good, functionality-wise. But for one layer, you will end up using both sides of the applicator to go on the lips in one pass.

Feel on the lips: It feels partially sticky and is definitely not incredibly lightweight, in the sense that you will feel like there is product on the lips. Another thing to note about this is that the colour tends to get darker the longer it sits on the lips.

So, it goes a shade darker and becomes more of a maroon-brown after it meshes with the skin on the lips. The colour does not bleed or feather but does transfer a lot. It doesn’t sit in the lip lines weirdly or cling to flakes. The finish is very glossy.
