Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick – Front Row Review

Hi Beauties,

Today, I am here to review a lipstick from Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede collection.  This too was a shade that I searched online and found swatches to my liking. Revlon is very expensive here, so I thought rather than spending so much money here, it was better to get from US, where it was cheaper. My brother was there in US, so I told him to get this shade for me.  If it had met my expectations, I was planning to buy other shades from this range. So, let us see how it worked out for me.

My Experience with Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick – Front Row:

This is another shade in my light colour lipstick collection.

Colour:  It is a light pinky peach shade. It tends to show a more frosted pink in daylight.

Texture:  It has a creamy smooth texture and glides easily, it is very lightweight also.

Finish:  It has a frosty finish.  During application, it is creamy and smooth, but after a few minutes, it dries to a matte finish. Matte is good, I love it but the way this lipstick looked on my lips made my heart break. Even though the lipstick glided smoothly, it gave a very uneven finish, like dollops of this lipstick clung to all corners of my lips. It highlighted all the dry patches on my lips, settled into fine lines and gave a bizarre look all over. This happened the first time I wore it.  The next time I took more care, thoroughly exfoliated my lips, properly lined with a matching lip liner and carefully filled in the lipstick and evened out all the excess product . When it dried, it looked much better than the first time.

Pigmentation and Coverage:  It is not very pigmented.  Even though the lipstick looks like it’s bursting with colour, it gives a more frosty look. It gives a sheer coverage, can be built up to a medium, but looks a bit cakey and because of the frosty finish and light color, highly pigmented lips can totally skip it. I have pigmentation mainly towards the corner of my lips, so I basically line my lips with a liner and cover the pigmentation and then fill in the lipstick. I also wear plain gloss or balm on top to give my lips more colour , even finish and reduce the frosty and chapped look.

Staying Power:  It has an excellent staying power. It does not feather and bleed. It stayed on for 5 hours and more and survived a light meal also, but when it started fading, it was in an uneven manner.

Fragrance:  There is no fragrance in this lipstick.

Packaging:  It comes in a very beautiful and sturdy packing. The bottom part of the plastic tube comes in the same colour as the shade inside and the top portion is black. The cap is transparent and we can see the shade through it also The cap shuts in a tight “click” making it very travel friendly. But the turning alignment that brings out the lipstick makes my tube very messy and it transfers everywhere.

Here are the swatches:

In my lip swatches, the top two shows lipstick alone and the bottom ones shows lipstick with a gloss on top.

I don’t like this lipstick and I very rarely use this. If I use, it is on my clear skin days only after neatly prepping my face. Skin tones below NC 40 can skip this.  It is best suited for fair skin tones, but medium skin tones can also give it a try.
