Revlon Photoready Kajal – Emerald Empire Review

Revlon Photoready Kajal – Emerald Empire Review

By Pinky Krishnan

Hello Everyone,

This is my first review on IMBB and I can’t believe that I am doing this! For someone whose idea of makeup consisted of moisturizer, loose powder, kajal and two wrong shade of lipsticks, this is quite an achievement. That stage had lasted throughout my life when it suddenly came to an abrupt end around one year back when I bumped into something called IMBB. As they say, there was no turning back. A big thank you for all you wonderful people on IMBB! So today, I’m taking my first step into this beauty kingdom with the review of Revlon Photoready Kajal in Emerald Empire.

My Experience with Revlon Photoready Kajal – Emerald Empire:

As you know, this is a dual-ended pencil with one end being dark green and the other, a n*de beige which is the eye brightener. I never had the slightest idea that white or nude colors can be used to brighten or open up your eyes, but I do remember actress Rekha wearing some weird white stuff on her waterline in her 80’s movies. Took me too long to realize what it is. Now, I bought this pencil mainly for the n*de brightener because this shade was so hard to find. Let’s check it out in detail:

N*de Brightener:  Now, this shade is a true winner for me. This goes so perfectly with my skin tone which falls between medium to dusky with yellow undertones. White eyeliners are too loud on Indian skin with yellow undertone. I think this will perfectly suit medium as well as dusky skin tones.

It is well pigmented and the consistency is smooth. It glides on nicely without any tugging and gives that opened up look. It does not irritate eyes, but all these last just for an hour. After that, it vanishes without any trace. You have to reapply if you can bother with it. I wish it had more staying power because the shade is a rare gem. Outside water line, it lasts for a couple of hours more, but smudges badly.

Dark Green:  It looks more like a dark teal. I don’t use this shade often, but if you are into colored eyeliners, this is a beautiful shade to try. This also is nicely pigmented but not as smooth as the other shade, tugged a bit on the upper eyelid. Applied there, it stays for about 3 or 4 hours but smudges a little bit after that.

Pros of Revlon Photoready Kajal – Emerald Empire:

  • The n*de brightener is perfect for Indian skin tones.
  • Decently pigmented.
  • Smooth texture (n*de shade).
  • Does not irritate the eyes.

Cons of Revlon Photoready Kajal – Emerald Empire:

  • Very poor staying power on waterline.

If you don’t mind reapplying in between, the n*de shade is definitely worth a try. Color lovers can try the dark green. I would rather wait for something with better staying power (can you suggest any?) than repurchase this.
