How to Get Rid of Nail Biting Habit

nail bitingNail Biting

Ok as soon as I say nail biting, I am sure most of the women will look at their nails, or think how stupid they were when they bit their nails, in their early years. (Some of us do it even now, I know)

I used be a serious and vigorous nail biter (now you know why I have soft and brittle nails, “karam apna apna” you see), and obviously I had bad nails, but as I grew, I learnt that long nails are a must for a female at least for some years of their lives. (Imagine how could we do all the nail arts, we have been doing lately after seeing the amazing, tutorials on IMBB).

But this topic switched my brain, since I have been doing a lot of artificial nails posts lately. But people like me who have small nails, benefit the most from dupe nails and people who bit their nails or once have bitten their nails, they would be even gladder to have something to have beautiful nail arts on.

Nail biting or onychophagia is actually a way of getting rid from the stress one is enduring and this is scientifically proven. Nervousness, hunger or stress can make you bite your nails.

Nail biting may also be taken as an indication for a mental or emotional disorder. Nail biting starts off in the early childhood years.
Artificial nails are supposedly one of the treatments or remedy for getting rid of nail biting.

Nail biting as we all know ends you up with small, ugly and nasty nails, hence artificial nails become a necessity here at least for women. I pity the guys, know many of my male cousins and friends who have these little and dirty nails but they can’t do anything about it. (Ladies, Smile because we have options.)

Artificial nails are the best remedy for getting riddance from nail biting, since you possibly can’t bite plastic nails.:P

Nail biting leads to a lot of health hazards, and also damage your personal and professional facets of life.

Nail biting refers to lack of confidence, in psychology. Now you know why you bit of your nails when you went for your first interview.

Several oral infections are induced in the human body due to nail biting. Using bitter nail paint can also be a solution for getting rid of nail biting. Hands are used in all most all the human chores; mark my words, all of them. :P and when you bite your nails, all those germs and dirt goes directly into your tummy causing allergies and reactions.

But I feel artificial nails are the most apt way to get rid of nail biting because Like I mentioned before you can bite on your acrylic or artificial nail.

Doctors’ advices nail biters to trim their nails shortest so that they don’t have anything to bite on. Also, you can have a stress ball in your hand. Now don’t chew it off. :P

Wearing hand gloves is great, for getting rid of nail biting. This will also prevent you from chewing the skin around the nails. The skin around your nails becomes dry and the cuticles are wrecked.

Periodontal problems also happen due to nail biting.’ Nail biting also leads to cuticle picking ouch, I don’t do this. But I do twirl my hair. (Especially during my exams and studying)

nail bitingHave you noticed, ok how would you notice; you have no idea when you are biting off your nails. Doctors’ recommend that the nail biter should be constantly made aware of the fact that he is biting nails. I remember my mom used to slap on my hand when I bit my nails. :P

Here are some quick tips on giving up on the nail biting habit

• Have a gum in your mouth always, you can keep chewing it. :)
• Keep them trimmed.
• Bitter nail paints.
• Be determined to stop it. (this one is tough)
• Keep your hands busy. Have a hobby like painting or writing. (software engineers need not have hobbies, type out programs and codes over and over again :) )
• There are medicines and drug available to stop you from biting nails. :)
• Keep your nails clean and manicured, all women love their manicures I know. :)
• Keep a nail file or emery board handy; as soon as you urge to bite your nails file them. :)
• Keep moisturizing your hands; this will leave a bitter tste on your fingers.
• Meditate and realx, to get off the atress.

Hence all you nail biters get your packs of artificial nails and get rid of nail biting. :)

hi zeeba good review i think very useful to hose who have this habit of biting nails.by the way whenever I see a post by Zeeba immediately, i associate it with hair colours. he he he..

i know this is not a right platform to ask some queries but i wish to
am totally new to hair colouring. I have few grey strands. so bought revlon top speed dark brown shade.
I have not coloured my hair ever in my life.
so please help me out.
i plan to use revlon top speed home kit which contains one white coloured tube and one blasck coloured tube. leaflet says just to put black colour on to one side of brush and white colour on to another side of brush and just comb it through strands. they say thats the most easiest home based hair colouring kit in the market.
but then again I wonder how can the colour spread evenly?
the leafletsays to do an allergy teest by keeping a dose of colour inside the elbow and to keep the test for 48 hours untouched!! but then I wonder How can I keep it without even getting wet?
but pribee of IMBB gang suggested me to just apply colour on few hair strands and wash off and check whether any sensitivity develops.
so me planning to do a patch test just by applying it on few strands and see. any other tips from you Zeeba are welcomed.

sorry again for posting non related query here.
manythanks

Hi Sumsu,

:)

Firstly thanks for remembering me..in sumway or the other.. :)

Secondly…….the test part, see dnt do it on the elbow, do it behind your ear. A very little spot. ok:)

You can do the strand test too, btw I advice that test it only at the tips or ends of the hair strands, and not the whole length of hair even if it is just a few strands…….when u test it at the ends, you can trim them if anything goes wrong, which is not the case with your whole hair strands.

Do let me know if i can help you further with anythng :)

thank you for very prompt reply. very useful tip too. otherwise I would ve ended up doing the full strand. so do you mean I ve to keep it untouched for some time the leaflet says 48 hours Is tiit necessary ?
its ammonia free colour so does it have sensitivity to skin ?
they say I need to keep colour only for five minutes.
is that sufficient ?
by the way I have mnore doubts on applying the colour by hair blush its a flat bush with four rows. leaflet says to apply black colour on first row of brush and white colour on the fourth row.hen to comb the hair. but I wonder whether colour spreads evenly.
u know revlon top speed is costlier than loreal casting creme. the SA said thats the most easiest way of doing hair colour but then I guess.
oplease help me
