Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick – #660 In love with Ginger

Hi Beauties,

What do you do when your reviews are ready; but the weather is not conducive to click photos. After praying for so long for the rains, the Rain God is extremely happy with me….so much so that it has been raining constantly. Even when it is not raining, the sky is full of dark clouds, and I could not get even one decent photograph of the products. So, what did I do????? Well, I waited. And waited and waited…And waited some more. Today, luckily I got the opportunity of clicking some nice pictures, so….. on and on we went; me and my camera….clicking photos of different products. I did not want to take the chance of when another nice sunny day would come by.

My experience with Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick – #660 In love with Ginger

I have always rued the fact that most coral to orange shades look pink on my lips. My lips are non-pigmented, but still many lipsticks were not showing their true colors on my lips. Undoubtedly, the color looked beautiful, but I was really tired of each and every orange lipstick looking pink on me. So, when I was selecting these at the store, this shade was shown as bright orange. I immediately became interested and bought it. However, at the billing counter, the lady commented that she was also wearing the same…and it looked orangish red on her. I was almost at groaning point now…Oh no; not again!! But when I came home, and wore it on my lips, I was delighted. Absolutely. This is the “MeraWala Orange” shade that I was looking for.

The product comes in a simple purple plastic casing with the Rimmel logo on top, and the shade name and number at the bottom. Inside is a steel color holder. The packaging is simple(reminds me of Maybelline Lipstick packaging), but is sturdy, and does not look cheap at all. It can be easily carried in your purse without any mishaps.

The bullet has a delightful full blown orange color. This is indeed an orange to die for. The color is so appropriate for the season, and will look good and glamorous even in winters. The bullet has a soft texture, so I would advise not to take it with you on any desert expedition. The lipstick glides most smoothly onto the lips, without any tugging. It is extremely pigmented, so one swipe is more than enough to cover any pigmented lips, and give a full blown orange color. However, on some lips, it may look orangish red. The lipstick has a smell of Boroline, which I do not mind at all. It indeed moisturises the lips, and imparts a creamy and glossy look to the lips. This glossy and hydrating lipstick ultimately translates into something which we all know; a less than average lasting time. With meals, it will hardly last on your lips; however without any meals (or even water), it will last longer (around 5-6 hours). Also, it transfers on to glasses, especially if you are having some hot drink.

After using it since last few weeks, I have now found the perfect way of using this lipstick. I dot the lipstick onto my lips…and then purse my lips together and spread it with my finger. This gives a nice, light, pinkish coral color, which is most suitable for daytime look. For the evenings, I lightly swipe this lipstick bullet directly on my lips, then blot it out, and then apply a second layer. You may also use a lip liner instead. Both these methods increase the lasting time of this lipstick. However, do not expect a lasting time of more than 3-4 hours with this one.

All in all, this is a moisturising lipstick, which does not feather or bleed if applied properly. The pigmentation is superb, and the finish is creamy to glossy. It will not settle on your lip lines at all, nor dry out your lips. However, it does transfer a lot, and has a less than average staying power.
