This is the first time I am reviewing a Rimmel London lip gloss and even though I have had this gloss for months, I procrastinated writing a post about it because I found nothing proprietary about it and didn’t find myself reaching for it that often. My Take on Rimmel Stay Glossy Treasure Hunt Lip Gloss:
I like Rimmel because they have good to awesome products at extremely affordable prices and the best part is that Ulta always has ‘buy one get one 50% offer’ on Rimmel, so it is all the more lucrative to buy products from this brand, but this particular lip gloss was bit of a letdown because it didn’t work so well for me.
Packaging: The product comes in a plastic tube plastic tube – average length and width and it has a silver, twist cap which has a sponge applicator attached to it. I don’t like the packaging because it makes the gloss look really cheap and something I bought for less than a dollar at a China site.
Texture: It is creamy and smooth to apply, but not too thick hence it is easy to spread, but it is sticky which gets annoying on windy days when hair sticks to lips. It has a pretty water shine finish which I prefer over cream shine and can be paired with a lip liner or a lipstick underneath.
Color: A cool-toned red with silver shimmer in it which is not that over the top and a good point is that it does not have white undertones that would unflattering on my complexion.
Pigmentation: Lip glosses don’t have good pigmentation nor is it the part of their job description but this product does have a good pigmentation and a single layer gives a good color pay off, even on my pigmented lips.
Shimmer and Shine: It has water shine or the sort of shine one gets when product has liquid consistency and has silver shimmer in it.
Fragrance: That’s the worst part – it has a horrible “fragrance.” It has an over powering, artificial floral fragrance which gives me headache and would do the same to most of the other users.
Staying Power: Decent wear time, like most lip glosses, which is 2 to 3 hours, and then reapplication is required, but I don’t mind that since that is the case with most of the lip glosses.
Pros of Rimmel Stay Glossy Treasure Hunt Lip Gloss:
- Sponge applicator is good and gives precise application.
- Will look good on most of the skin tones.
- A small quantity goes a long way.
- Stays for at least 2 to 3 hours and more.
- Easy on pocket.
- Available in 5 shades.
- The lip gloss tube has a decent amount of product.
- Good color payoff.
Cons of Rimmel Stay Glossy Treasure Hunt Lip Gloss:
- Packaging looks a bit cheap.
- Smells nasty, makes me cringe every time I apply it on my lips.
Would I Repurchase Rimmel Stay Glossy Treasure Hunt Lip Gloss?
No, because there is nothing unique about this product and it feels rather cheap and not “Rimmel like” at all.
