My Experience with Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Steely Gaze, Set in Stone, and Crystal Clear:

Sally Hansen is one of my favorite nail polish brands along with “Sinful Colors.” I prefer Sally Hansen a tad bit more than the latter because I really love the applicator on the Sally Hansen polishes, which gives me ultimate precision in applicator, but the Sinful Colors nail polishes are much cheaper. Both polishes have an equally good amount of amazing wear time of up to 5-6 days without chipping. I like the fact that these polishes have a quick drying time.

Now, coming to the shades:

180 – Set in Stone:  A clear polish with a hint of peach which is not apparent on the nails. It looks mostly clear on the nail and gives a nice sheen and polished look to the nails. This is a good polish if you are looking for every day use and office time, and with this on your nails, you don’t have to worry about it ever clashing with your outfit colors. The only thing you have to take care is that your nails need to be in extra good shape and manicured as it doesn’t hide nail flaws. You can build up some of the peachy color but that would require a lot of coats ( I have tried that, but it requires about 4-5 coats), which I don’t have the patience for, so I mostly wear it as a hint of peach, but mostly as a clear polish.

“860 – Steely Gaze” is a beautiful metallic melted steel color. This is a very unique shade and if you love dark nails but don’t want to go for an obvious black, this is a good alternative. During fall and winter, I really prefer deeper nail colors hence I love this. It has a very metallic finish but I cannot detect any shimmer. It goes on without streaking. Though it goes on opaque in one coat, I usually do two costs to have it look opaque and even.

“800 – Crystal Clear” as the name suggests is a clear, water-like shade. The consistency of this polish is much thinner than the above two nail paints. Though it is not marketed as such, I always apply this as top coat over my nail polishes and have noticed my nail color lasting a few days longer without chipping. It totally extends the wear of my polish and if I keep re-applying a layer over my nail polish every couple of days, I never have to remove my polish just because it started to chip, but I only remove it when my nails start to grow out and be visible. It does not alter the color on the nail polish you put it over but it does give it a boost of shine. This nail polish also makes for a good base color under deeper polishes as it protects your nail from staining.

Overall, I do really love this range of nail polishes due to the ease of use and its great staying power. I am not very impressed with the color of “180 Set in Stone” because it is very translucent and requires a lot of coats which I don’t have the patience for, but the other two nail paints in this post, I will recommend them 🙂
