Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Bare It All, Pinch of Punch and Jazzy Jade Review

Hello all,

I really like Sally Hansen nail polishes. Their “Xtreme Wear” range is very affordable and gives you a chance to dabble in various colors. Today, I am reviewing 3 shades from this range – Bare It All, Pinch of Punch and Jazzy Jade. These polishes belong to color families which are poles apart. So, read on to find out how they fared on me.

My Experience with Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Bare It All, Pinch of Punch and Jazzy Jade:

To begin with just a trivia – I had picked up these colors during different shopping trips. And while photographing them, I realized that their packaging is not the same. One of them has the name printed in the front of the bottle while the other two have the name printed at the back. Also, there is a slight change in the imagery. Looks like they launched a new collection.

Packaging:  The Xtreme wear range comes in cute small bottles with grey caps. I like how handy these bottles feel in the hand compared to some other bottles (like the bulky Sally Hansen Miracle Gel bottles). But the quantity is less too (11.8 ml) compared to others, but I do not really mind this.

Brush Applicator: I found the brush to be okay, nothing special to write about. It picked up fairly a good quantity of the polish and the application was easy too.

Consistency: All the shades that I am reviewing are of a crème medium thick consistency and went smoothly on the nails.

Drying Time:  The nail polish dries really fast. Even two coats dry out fast and I surely did not have to wait for the nail polish to dry before I could get back to my work.

Staying Power:  The staying power is really good and the polish easily stays on my nails for 4-5 days before it starts chipping. I would really expect that from a nail polish whose name says “Xtreme Wear.”

Now, for some detailed review of each of the colors:

1. Bare It All:

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear

I don’t like to wear loud and bright colored nail polishes which scream “look at me” to office. And hence, I am always on the lookout for nice n*de shades for office wear. I picked up “Bare It All” with exactly that in mind. And all of you who wear n*de polishes would know that it’s really hard to find one which suits you. “Bare It All” looks lovely in the bottle, but the loveliness doesn’t get translated to the hands, at least not on my hands. It ends up making my hands look darker and older; not flattering at all  🙁  The nail polish applies quite sheer in one coat and I actually needed 3 coats to even it out. This obviously made the final look quite layered and thick.

2. Pinch of Punch:

Now, I don’t know what the makers of the nail polish were thinking when they named it thus, but I have my own explanation – this color is a pinch of purple in a punch of pink 😛 It is not a unique shade and is slightly cool toned, but nevertheless, looks nice on the hands. It is quite opaque for a single coat, but I still like to layer 2 coats to even it out. The final finish of the polish is very glossy.

3. Jazzy Jade:

This one is a bright shimmery turquoise-teal color, definitely something which is not in my comfort zone and I don’t remember why I ended up picking this! Having said that, if you rock bright blues and greens and everything in between, this one is surely for you. I like how it brightens up the hands and makes them the center of attraction. I will need just a wee bit more courage to wear this. It applies sheer in a single coat and you definitely need 2 coats. I like that despite being such a dark color, it did not stain my nails.

To summarize, I like the drying and staying power of these nail polishes. Their formula may not be the best, but you get some amazing colors to experiment with at an affordable price.
