Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover Review

Mind blown! Best way to describe how I felt when I used this product, a product that solves the cuticle problem without having to cut them is something I was searching for a long time and I didn’t even know it! I had seen various YouTube beauties mention this product and I though why not, especially since Sally Hansen products are easily available online here in India these days. In its description, it says “cuts manicure time in half,” that is an understatement! The product deducts much more than that personally and has to be one of the best buys ever!

My Experience with Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover:

Let me just start off by saying that I am crazy about doing my nails. Nail art is something that I thoroughly enjoy doing on myself. So, nail care becomes a very important part of my skin care routine.  I used to hate getting manicures in salons purely for the reason that they cut the excess cuticle growth. It looks good then, but soon my fingers would tingle with pain and then there would be more of the excess growth.  So, I started saying no to that cuticle cutter, but that felt like a waste of time and money. So, I completely avoided getting manicures in salon and followed various at-home-manicure tips and ideas. But then, I was not at all satisfied with just pushing the cuticle back, as it would just pop back out and the nails would look dirty even though I take such good care of them. I hated this cycle of dissatisfaction. I wanted a non-cutting solution to the cuticle growth problem and finally found it thanks to this product by Sally Hansen.

I had seen and heard about this a lot, but I really did not expect much from it. I thought, at most, it would just soften the cuticle much more quickly than just soaking them in warm water. This does much, much more!

This comes a cute blue squeezy plastic bottle. It is Sally Hansen, so have no doubts on packaging quality. The nozzle that dispenses the remover is small enough and is hard plastic. The solution itself is clear and you only need a tiny amount each time. The nozzle helps in getting the remover exactly where it is needed. The following shows the clear liquid around the nails.

I do follow the steps on the packaging that says to apply, wait for 15 seconds before starting to push the cuticle in, but directions don’t mention that we need to scrape off the “dissolved” cuticles. I use a small cuticle pusher I have and after 15 seconds, I first scrape around my nails where ever I see excess cuticle and then push back once scraped. You can see whitish creamy substance that the dissolved cuticles make with the remover. Consider yourself warned, it does look very gross! But trust me, it is worth it. In the following image, I hope you can see the whitish stuff on the cuticle pusher. *eeeww*

The instruction says not to leave it for than a minute. Because what this product does is literally dissolve skin. I think they say 1 minute to be on the safe side. I apply it on both hands, then start scraping one by one and then wash the remaining off. This takes about 2-3 minutes. The skin does start to feel very “tight” the longer it is on and you have this strong urge to wash it off. Once washed, that feeling lasts for 5-10 minutes more, then it recedes and the nail area feels fine. I always follow it up with cuticle oil.

I hope, no, I’m sure in this before and after shot, you can clearly see what difference this God sent product makes! Just a few minutes and done! All that irregular, extra cuticle growth disappears leaving behind clean, healthy beautiful looking nails! (any redness you see in the image is due to henna 😀 )

Pros of Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover:

  • Does what it says! It’s a charming product.
  • Easily available on various online shopping websites in India.
  • I think the price is just right for the excellent results it gives.
  • The quantity is good. I have used it more than a dozen times and I don’t see much change in the level of the product as each time only a little is needed.
  • Takes 2-3 minutes maximum.
  • No unhygienic or painful cutting of the cuticles.
  • Just scraping with a wooden orange stick or any cuticle pusher or any similar tool will do. You wouldn’t need a very special tool for this.
  • Long lasting results, at least for 10-12 days the effect lasts. If you do a lot of washing and cooking, it might last for a shorter period of time.
  • Small and sturdy packaging, you can easily carry it on the go.
  • Helps with the feet too.

Cons of Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover:

  • A very strong product. I cannot keep it on for more than 2-3 minutes. It starts to feel weird, it does not hurt but I imagine a few more minutes and it would burn as it dissolves skin. So, be very careful and mindful of time when using this.

Will I Repurchase Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover?

Oh yes! This will last long and well before I’m about to use it all, I’m surely going to restock this.

Do I Recommend Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover?

Most definitely! It is an absolute must have girls.

  1. Nafisa, this seems to be a magic product. I have used Kronokare cuticle remover solution, but it was such a “duh” product, it didn’t work at all. This I will try 🙂

  2. oh naf.. this sure is a must have for me…coz i just loooove nail art..thanks for the review..quite a useful product

  3. Good review Nafisa I used this product before, it is not available in Aus anymore….Sally Hansen has introduced a new version called cuticle balm recently and im using it now…..it is much milder…

  4. great review Nafisa 🙂
From which website did you get it??? And most importantly do they accept debit cards?? I hope they do, as I don’t own a credit card 🙁

  5. i never have time to go to salons for manicures/pedicures! (i am too lazy actually)..this is goin on my list! Thank you for the detailed review. Your nails look so pretty!! <3 <3

  6. Hello,
Nice review. You are quite right. This is the best cuticle remover till now. I have been using this product for last 2years, coming April it will be 3. My cuticles look much better after I started using this product.
I completely agree, in salons, they just cut the cuticles without care. Almost all the time I used to come back with bleeding fingertips (from different different salons). So I stopped getting manicure from so called “Professionals”.
This little blue bottle is my miracle product. It also got rid of my skin which was growing underside of my nails(which is very painful if you cut it by mistake when you’re trimming your nails).
Now, I always keep this product extra in my stock, so I won’t run out of it.
Just be careful while using this product, it is very strong, you can keep this on only for 5 minutes, not more than that. Otherwise you will feel burning sensations & don’t use it if you got cuts on your fingertips, it hurts like a heck. Otherwise this is a very good product. Thank you YouTube video bloggers for mentioning this miracle product.
