Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Shampoo Review

Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Shampoo Review

By Judith G.

Hi everyone,

This is my first review on IMBB though I have been a follower for years (shame on me!). Thought I would start off with a review of the new shampoo I have been using.  First, I have to confess that I’m a bit of a drugstore junkie – set up a pretty promotional stand and you can be sure I will have that product in my stash soon! The upside to my crazy obsession is that I have found some great affordable products that work wonderfully for me. My hair is naturally curly, but quite dry and frizzy, so I usually end up hiding my tresses in a bun.  I recently shifted to the UK and it is extremely dry where I’m living right now. This has played havoc with my already temperamental hair. Not only has the frizz increased, my scalp gets greasy very quickly.  None of my usual products are working and it became absolutely necessary to go on a little hair care haul 😉

Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Shampoo

That’s when I spotted the Schwarzkopf Essence Ultîme Omega Repair range which consists of a shampoo, conditioner, hair mask and interestingly a hair beauty balm. It is a relatively new range from Schwarzkopf and is created in collaboration with international supermodel Claudia Schiffer.  I have had good experiences with the brand in the past and considering it was on a promotional offer, I decided to start with only the shampoo with a mental note to return for the balm later.

Price:

I got it for 2.99 pounds for 250 ml on offer (which roughly comes uptoRs. 300) but the regular price which I saw online is 4.99 pounds.

My Experience with Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Shampoo:

My first impression of any product is it’s fragrance. This shampoo has the regular synthetic musky scent of most drugstore shampoos, in fact I find it quite similar to the L’Oreal Total Repair shampoo which I previously used. The scent will linger on your hair but can be masked depending on how strong the fragrance of your conditioner is. It has a pretty white pearl-like sheen which I suppose supports the pearl essence claim in the ingredients. I never wash my hair without applying a little oil first as I find it helps clean out the scalp well without the need of harsh clarifying shampoos.

With this shampoo, I found that I needed quite a lot of product to wash out the oil. The shampoo does mention it is a gentle formula on the bottle though. My hair did feel soft and manageable after but don’t think you would be able to skip conditioner. The “clean” feeling lasted only till the next day before my scalp got greasy again, but I would blame this more on the weather than the shampoo. I cannot comment on whether it truly repairs damaged hair or decreases split ends because I don’t have noticeable problems with that.

Pros of Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Shampoo:

  • The shampoo is quite gentle, suitable for daily use. My hair is not chemically treated, but I assume it would not be harsh on coloured or straightened hair.
  • Hair feels soft, shiny and has a clean feeling.
  • Does not irritate the scalp.
  • No significant hair fall.
  • Reasonably priced.

Cons of Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Shampoo:

  • The usual chemically loaded ingredients.
  • Too gentle to get rid of oil or heavy styling products in one wash.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5

Would I Recommend Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Shampoo?

If you are like me and like trying new products, I would definitely say go ahead just for the sake of change. However, I would not say it is a must-have product and if you are happy with your current shampoo, don’t bother with this one.

  1. I dont think this has been launched in india.. i somehow cant stand schwarzkopf shampoo’s smell so i stopped using it. Great review and welcome to IMBB *puchhi*

  2. thank you for the welcome Purva! 😀 the shampoo is relatively new here too so I guess it might take a bit to come to India.

  3. I cannot, repeat cannot stand the way this shampoo smells. It is like I soaked my hair with rubbing alcohol and it will not go away. I am returning the product to the store I purchased it from.
