Shampoos without Parabens and Sulfates: Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Shruti K. asks:

Hi Everyone,

Recently, I have read on IMBB that all the shampoos and conditioners we use have harmful sulphates , silicons and parabens which are not good for long usage. I have been going through very bad hair fall phase. My hair strength is reduced to half. Based on the list given in the article, I have purchased Enliven conditioner, but heard its shampoos are not free from harm. So, please tell me some good shampoos from Indian brands that are available in India which are SLS, silicon and paraben free. TBS rainforest range I know, but I want something more economical, that could be regularly used because I want to shampoo my hair thrice a week because of its oiliness.  Even if you could suggest me some home remedies, it will be really helpful

Luv you team!! Thanks in advance all.

  1. Himalaya shampoos are free from sulphates and are very economical 🙂 the small bottle of himalaya protein shampoo (which im using currently) comes for rs. 50-60 … You can try that n if it suits u , u can buy the biggerbottle !!
Otherwise, almond oil is really good for hair … !!
You should also try the hair masks using home remedies… There are quite some posts on imbb for that 🙂
    Hope this helped 🙂

  2. Are you sure about the himalaya shampoo ? Cause herbal shampoos often mention only the herbal ingredients in the bottle and the rest of the ingredients are ambiguously labelled as Surfactant base – which might contain sulphates. It`s just not mentioned on the label.

    1. i agree with you there Arja !
but the shampoo i have ” himalaya protein shampoo” has some chemicals listed under “inactives” under the ingredients label. Also, its specifically mentioned on the front side of the shampoo ” free from sulphates, parabens, sles”
so, im guessing it dsnt have suplhates but yes a few other chemicals are present.

  3. You can try shampoos from Brocato though they are only available online on purplle and u t. They are cruelty free and don’t have parabens or sulphates. Also try the TBS shampoos.

      1. biotique contain sls but very less (<10%). only biotique kelp shampoo is sls free. but the prob with that is it does nt lather well. but makes the hair smooth and shiny. u can try the small one for starting..i heard that biotique green apple is also very good..

  4. what about the bodyshop..no sulphates no parabens and colorants…i have the rainforest moisture shampoo, hair butter and conditioner..expensive yet worth the money

  5. This website is a one-stop point for all my beauty queries. Luv it a lot. Would like to thank all the contributors for doing such a wonderful job.
I have a weid problem. I just wanted to share with you. Any help/suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    With the problem now –
I have tried Himalaya shampoo and conditioner (anti-dandruff, protein ones). I started using it since my newly developed love for herbal products 🙂 🙂 Whenever i use it i have small boils in my head.
I switched to Dove shampoo. The boils problem is gone :happy :happy
But after repeated use i had lot of hairfall (i almost finished half bottle)…. :sad :sad :cry cant see my hair going in bunches 🙁 🙁
I recently switched to Vatika shampoo (lemon extract) thinking it will help me as it is herbal(herbal bhoot jaag utha again). Again the boil problems. It starts from the 2nd day after shampooing. Please guide me.
PS: I most of the times oil my hair b4 washing. I use mahabhringraj oil.

    Thanks in advance.
    Shilpa

  8. Hiii everyone I have become an addict to this website its one stop point for any product review……regarding shampoo free from SLS paraben etc Himalaya baby shampoo is working awesome I have lost tons of hair my hair is very thin now since I joined hostel I have this problem so I was hunting for mild shampoo then got this Himalaya baby shampoo its good but does not lather well u have to use two times to clean the oil in the hair….only that’s the drawback……rest its good but I have very oily hair so I’m gonna buy biotique green apple as mentioned in this site or shall buy biotique walnutbark since its for thin hair please suggest I want free from chemicals please do suggest me what shampoo to use

  9. Hi Jyothi,
I have tried biotique walnut bark shampoo, and didn’t get best results . I am quite frustrated with biotique products , but recently heard of Bio kelp , and getting good reviews. so , I am planning to try Bio kelp with Bhringraj oil from Biotique . Hoping for good results . I will surely post my experience in future with these biotique products ? And I found this website very useful , thank you guys for your wonderful suggestions ?

  10. Searching for sulphate and parabens free shampoo led me here…hello everyone! I was using biotique bio walnut bark shampoo because it is herbal and thought that it is free of chemicals but when it leathered so well I came to know it has sulphates …actualyy 😂 it is a very difficult situation because sulphate free shampoo won’t leather that much which means it will require extra effort and extra product……and if we buy a product with sulphates …scalp will be clean but harmful effects in long run 😂😂😂😂 there should b a way a shmpoo that is absolutely chemical free and effective and time saving cleanser too …difficult search ….I hope there are products which can fulfill these expectations…😅😅😅
