SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow Conditioner Review

This product is another great find from the brand Shea Moisture; I am sort of addicted to this brand because of all natural, affordable and effective products. For quite some time I have been using the Tresemme and Equate Keratin Shampoo and conditioners to wash my hair, but I felt that even though they were cleaning my hair really well, they were also drying out my hair due to excessive amount of lathering agents present in them (sulphates) and hence I decided to go for something milder and gentler and I am glad I found a relatively cheap alternative in my local drug store. Keep on reading to know more about it.

My Experience with SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow Conditioner:

I have used regular conditioners like the one by Dove or VO5 and have also used more luxurious ones by brands which have their own dedicated aisle in Ulta, but I found that all of them have silicon based compounds which made my hair manageable but at the same time made my hair feel rather artificial and left a lot of residue in my hair which led to product build up.

Packaging: The product comes in a 3.2 Oz bottle which looks like The Body Shop bottles and even though it does not look fancy, it serves the purpose well and is clear hence I know when it’s time to purchase again. The downside is that it is hard to squeeze the product out because of the thick consistency of the product and tiny opening.

Consistency: It is a conditioner hence it is meant to be of thicker consistency; however, it is thicker than usual conditioners (which are runnier) and can be applied like a mask.
Fragrance: I just love the fragrance; nothing particular I can pin point to but still it is very mild and pleasant and lingers in my hair for a while.

Efficacy: This conditioner is better than other drugstore conditioners because it contains more favorable and milder ingredients which are gentler on hair and do not leave residue behind but I have to be very careful about the amount of product to be applied, otherwise my hair becomes very oily and appear unwashed within a day; hence it is better to apply just a tiny bit to the ends and tips of hair to avoid weighing down of hair. It is also good for those who tend to heat style their hair after shampooing.

Conclusion: It is a good and cheap conditioner which would do well in the shower routine and best of all, it is gentle and mild on my hair and does not dry it out.

Would I Repurchase Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Grow Conditioner?
No, I loved using the shampoo from the same range but not the conditioner because it weighs down my hair and is a bit tricky to work with. I recommend it to those who have dry and brittle hair.
