Silky Girl Pure Fresh Oil Control Pressed Powder – Review

Hello Beauties,

I was in search of good compact powder since I gave my Maybelline Dream Matte Powder to my sister before coming to KL and plus I wanted to try a new compact powder. As mentioned in one of my previous posts Silky Girl cosmetics line is quite famous in Malaysia and their products are fairly decently priced and available across all major pharmacies and stores. I believe their products are targeted towards college girls more due to their price and packaging style.

Silky Girl Pure Fresh Oil Control Pressed Powder SPF20

In December while I was roaming around in Guardian I came across Silky Girl’s Pure Fresh Oil Control Pressed Powder SPF20 which was on sale and since I was looking for a good oil control powder I grabbed it and have been using it since. Its been more than a month and I think I am ready to review this one.

Product Description:-
Formulated with Selective Sebum Powder, this product effectively controls shine and minimizes large pores. It is infused with the goodness of Apple Extract to keep skin moisturized. This mattifying powder also contains Nano White to lighten skin tone and add radiance to your complexion.

My experience Silky Girl Pure Fresh Oil Control Pressed Powder:

Silky Girl products always had good reviews and are widely used by the local girls here. They have wide range of products and are cheapest among the drug store brands in Malaysia. I have tried their Eye Makeup remover and totally loved it so I had quite high hopes from this one but unfortunately it did not rise upto my expectations.

My skin is combination ie oily T-zone and dry around nose and mouth. These days my cheeks are also a bit on the drier side which I believe would be due to the use of acne products on skin which tend to dry them out. I am loving my MAC Studio Fix Powder but for everyday use I find it a it on heavier side and hence bought the Silky Girl Pure Fresh Pressed Powder. The powder comes in sea green square packaging with a decent sponge applicator inside (forgot to take the pic). It comes in 4 shades and I have the 04 ie Rose Beige which has good yellow undertones to suit my skin.

The pressed powder is quite heavy and it can definitely act like a powder foundation too since it gives quite a good coverage. The texture is creamy but heavy, it does not blend that easily on the skin and feel heavy. Another problem I have with this powder is that it just sits on top of the skin and emphasizes dry areas a lot! Definitely a big no for dry or combination skinned girls! It did not cover my pores at all since it does not blend and feels dry! As far as the oil controlling properties go its a dud in that area also, does not control oil for more than couple of hours after which I need to re-apply it. The description says its non-comedogenic but I feel it does clog my pores though it has not broken me out yet.

Over all I would not recommend this product to any one especially to combination – dry skinned beauties.

Pros of Silky Girl Pure Fresh Oil Control Pressed Powder:

-> Good and sturdy packaging.
-> Comes with a big mirror which is great for touch ups and a decent size sponge applicator.
-> Has SPF 20.
-> Covers pretty well and can be used as powder foundation.
-> Reasonably priced.
-> You get 8g of product!
-> Gives matte finish.

Cons of Silky Girl Pure Fresh Oil Control Pressed Powder:

-> Dry texture.
-> Does not blend well.
-> Sits on top of the skin.
-> Emphasizes open pores and dry patches.
-> Does not control oil for more than 2 hours.
-> Not suitable for combination to dry skinned beauties.
-> Not available in India (I find this a Pro more..in this case only 😀 )

IMBB Rating:-

3 out of 5

Price:-

15 to 20 RM for 8g product depending upon the store and offers

Do I recommend Silky Girl Pure Fresh Oil Control Pressed Powder?

No, its a complete failure for me and I would not recommend this to any combination beauties, oily to very oily skinned girls may give it a shot but its definitely not suitable for mature skin.

Hope the review was helpful, until next time tc and stay beautiful
