Skin Care Routine For 30s: Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Veni D. Asks:

I have seen many natural packs for the skin.  I am a little bit confused about the procedure.  While using the natural home-made face packs, don’t we need to do cleansing, scrubbing, and massaging? Can we directly use the face pack.  I am  34 years old and I have dry skin.  Please suggest me a daily skin care routine.  Weekly once, I do clean up using VLCC products.  Now, I want to use natural products.  Can you suggest me some natural home-made recipes for cleanser, scrub, and face pack.  Please also suggest me a face wash.  I do not know whether I am asking these questions clearly, please excuse me if there are any mistakes.  Please do leave your suggestions in the comments.

  1. So glad this question has come up, given that I have stepped into the right side of 30 now.

I am looking for a routine too, but with all-natural products. I am hoping to banish all chemical-based products as much as possible.

  2. Cleanser/Scrub/Pack=1 tbsp gram flour+ sufficient quantity of curd to make a paste and 4-5 drops of almond oil or coconut oil… Apply a layer of this paste on face and neck, allow it to dry. Once dried wet the face and rub of the paste in circular, gentle movements. Then wash the face. Apply little almond/coconut oil afterwards to combat dryness if it is there… :woot: Do this daily before going to bed. You can mix milk cream instead of curd… Try this for 15 days and you will get to see the results yourself… :jiggy1:

    1. For oily skin you can mix a few drops of lemon juice in the above paste and use a mixture of glycerine+rose water+lemon juice (all in equal parts) after washing the face instead of almond oil.

          1. Hey Pallvi

I am 25 and have a dry skin+uneven skin tone and it has no shine et all :yikes: …..Any sugg for me to get a clean & fresh skin :waaa: :waaa: :waaa:

            1. For dry skin follow the same and replace curd with milk cream… Also put a pinch of turmeric in the paste… This will even out the skin tone.. 🙂

  3. My age is 30 now.. I prefer applying honey on the face before bath atleast 2 times a week.. Let it stay for 15 mins.. It makes the skin soft and gives little glow.. I think gram flour would be best as Pallavi has suggested.. Reg.. cleanser I find cetaphil to be very mild and gentle. Whenever I feel my skin is dull, I use cetaphil without water, I mean with cotton balls leaving a thin film of cetaphil on the skin.. This makes the skin bright, I moisturise then.. As we age, our skin looses moisture too.. So use hydration masks every 10 days… I use Nivea Hydration masks.. But I think it is not available in India.. Lush would be better option.. Go for age defying toners (if u have wrinkles or fine lines) and moisturiser acc. to skin type.. Hope this helps.. 🙂

    1. Laxmi could you pls tell me where we can get Nivea hydration mask and
In lush as well as you mentioned please I am 36 yrs

      1. Lakshmi, I live in saudi.. Nivea hydration masks are available throughout gulf countries.. I am not sure abt elsewhere..will review soon.. And you can try sacred truth, cupcakes and oatfix from lush.. I’ve not tried lush products but got this info from Nupur..

  4. Apart from above mentioned ideas…you could also wash your face with oats! yes! take a 1tsp of oats and add 1 to 2 tsp of water and mix well, use this mixture to wash your face, this also will moisturize your dry skin and no additional moisturizer is reqd, i have tried this personally and loved the results!
similarly you can also create oats face pack at home, same way take 2 to 3 spoons of oats, add in glycerine, rose water and few drops of any essential oils like tea tree, lavender, lemon etc
another homemade pack would be green tea n oats..mix n match ingredients according to your preference..hope this helped 🙂

  5. i use honey plus lemon juice and also tomato juice sometimes . . gives a nice glow to my skin !!!!
i have a question . . .how often can we use fullers earth as face pack !!! my skin has become very oily due to clindamycin gel that i am using for my acne, fullers earth does a great work in adsorbing the oil, i want to use it everyday 🙁

  6. Hi All… I did a very detailed post about my skin care routine (i’m 32) Obviosuly eveyone is different….but i really love my routine and have noticed a BIG difference in mu skin!!!

    🙂

  7. 30 was a few moons ago for me (a couple of sons ago, too!) On a weekly basis, I use a home-made sugar scrub (just mix sugar, almond oil, and a fragrant oil such as lemon or jasmin). I use this on face and lips. Daily use cleanser – a cotton round dipped in almond oil. Toner – rose water. Face Pack – I don’t do this but you can mix yogurt (dahi) and honey and slather your face. Let it sit for 15 minutes and wash it off.
Don’t use soap on your face, and make sure you use a good moisturiser if you need extra hydration (a really simple one is almond oil). HTH 🙂

  8. 1. CLEANSER: Raw milk/ boiled when raw unavailable, applied liberally and removed with moist cotton wool.
    2. SCRUB: Powdered oats- occasionally- as a scrub mixed with honey and lemon.
    3. FACE WASH: I wash my face with besan, milk powder and almond powder concoction to which I add some turmeric, dash in some rose water or plain tap water
    4. FACE PACK ALL SEASON: Occasional Banana/ papaya rubbed on the face or egg, honey and lemon pack, washed off in 10-15 mins.
    5. FACE PACK WINTERS: Malai, besan, haldi pack in winters. I keep it on for 15 mins max, wash it off with water.
    6. INSTANT PICK ME UP: dab some plain honey on face and wash off in 10 mins.
