My Experience with Smashbox Cream Cheek Duo – Blushing and Peony:

I just love cream blushes and prefer them slightly over powder blushes. I am a fan of dewy makeup as I do have dry skin and the complete matte look does not work well for me.  I had this blush in my collection for a long time and did not use it much as I do have many other products and this just got neglected. Lately, I have been using this product more on a regular basis and I have to say, I like this product. I am not completely head over heels in love with it, but it is not a disappointing product either.

Packaging:

I like the packaging with two semi circles of two different colors of blush. It helps give you different looks without occupying much space in your vanity. The thing I do not like about this product is the twist off cap as there is a chance that it may get lost if you are clumsy like me and the product will dry out without a cap.

Texture/Consistency:

The blush is slightly on the thicker side. It’s not too runny and does not feel too greasy.  It spreads and blends very easily and is very pigmented, hence a little does go a long way in order for the color to show up. They both apply equally well whether you use your fingers or a stippling blush. They do not feel heavy on the skin at all.  The blush does take a minute or so to set which is more than enough time to blend it out. Once it does set, it does not move around much and does not “slide” off on the face. It imparts almost a “stained” look.

Shades:

I am not sure which shade is “Peony” and which shade is “Blushing” hence I will just describe them both.

One shade is a very bright peachy coral shade which looks very natural and pretty on the cheeks.  This one is my favorite among the two and I do reach for this one more. It is perfect for days when you want other features of your makeup stand out, for example if you have a heavy eye makeup done and need the rest of your face to look effortless and toned down.  The other shade is a very richly pigmented reddish pink color. It does look very loud on the cheeks hence it is necessary that this shade be applied in moderation or it just looks like you got slapped in the face and your cheeks turned red. If applied in the right amount, it does give a very pretty and natural looking color on the cheeks which makes you look like you are actually blushing.  Both the shades impart a dewy look to the face.  They do not contain any visible shimmer and are definitely not matte in any way.

Staying Power:

I wasn’t too thrilled with the staying power of this product. It did stay on me for about 4-5 hours after which it started to fade. By the end of the day, I noticed that I had a very faint, almost unnoticeable color on the cheeks. I do not detect any fragrance on this. Overall, I do like this product. If you are a fan of multiple shades in one product, you may like this since both colors are pretty, though I do prefer the coral one more.  The quantity provided is huge and will last me forever since a very light hand is needed for applying this.
