Tips by Smashbox:
For a flawless 3-step look, use Tapered Shadow Brush #7 to apply the lightest shade all over lid. Then contour by applying the medium shade in the crease with Crease Brush #10. Finally, define by using Cream Eye Liner Brush #9 to line upper and lower lashlines with the darkest shade.

My Take on Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio – Filter:

Packaging: Smashbox Eye Shadow Trios have unique packaging. The black, circular pan has a sliding tray with 3 triangular pans holding the product. I love the concept. The compact is handy, sturdy and safe to carry around because it is light weight and closes tight.

Texture and pigmentation: All the shades are great in pigmentation. The swatches are single swipe swatches and taken in day light to show the true color of the shades. There is negligible fallout. The texture is velvety and the product is finely milled. All the shades are super blendable and don’t crease.

Shades: The trio in Filter is a neutral combination comprising Vanilla, Sable and Sumatra. Every combination in the range includes one eye lid shade, one crease shade and one brow bone highlighting color. Here Sable is the eye lid shade which is a medium intensity neutral brown shade. Sumatra is the crease color, which is a dark brown shade. Vanilla being the brow bone shade contains a hint of satin finish. Sumatra and Sable are completely matte shades. All the shades are wonderfully pigmented and can be applied over a primer for intense color payoff.

Longevity: Even the shade Vanilla doesn’t disappoint when it comes to pigmentation and longevity. All shades stay in place for 6 hours on average without primer. When I tried it on with a primer, the wear time was extended to 9 hours which is really impressive.
The trio is a great combination for neutral looks and everyday use.
