My Experience with Stila Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette – Soul:

Packaging:  Usually, these “Eyes are the Window” palettes come in a mirror finish compact case. I have both the “Spirit” and the “Mind” palette from this range, but for some reason, this case is a complete different packaging. I don’t know why, but I am happy, as I don’t have to worry about those pesky finger prints which usually make mirror finish makeup cases look dirty.

Only the outer packaging is different, but inside, it has the same shades and has a nice-sized mirror. It also comes with an illustrated guide book.

Texture:  These eyeshadows are smooth and that stands true even for the shimmery shades. They do not have a gritty texture. They are easy to blend and work with. They are not super creamy or soft to touch, but they are quite firmly pressed and a bit powdery. These shadows do not generate much fall out. These shadows can be used with or without a primer, but using a primer definitely helps in improving the longevity of these shadows and helps them adhere better, hence appear true to the pan.

Pigmentation and Shades:

This palette has 12 shades with 5 true matte shades. The mattes are such universally flattering colors that they will complement every look that you create with this palette. This palette has a lot of shimmery/frosty shades in all shade ranges – like gold, silver and rosy tones which are absolutely perfect colors for Indian party wear.

Pigmentation of these shadows vary – the lighter shades being the least pigmented and deeper shades having better pigmentation. All the shimmery shades are good.

Row 1:

Light- A matte beige n*de shade. Poor pigmentation and feels chalky. This shade can be used to highlight brow bone.

Individual – A matte warm-toned milk chocolate brown. A great crease shade for warm looks. Good pigmentation.

Being- A matte dark brown. Good pigmentation. Great to use for creating smokey eyes or to smoke out kohl or lower lash line.

Row 2:

Kitten- A frosty metallic champagne pink gold. This shade is a best-seller eyeshadow from the Stila brand and no wonder this shade appears repetitively in most of the other palettes from this brand. Even “Spirit” has this shade. I really like this shade and it looks great as an inner corner highlight or as an all over the lid color.

Affection – A shimmery rose gold. A gorgeous and flattering shade for everyone. You cannot go wrong with this color. Apply this all over the lid and voila! look party perfect!

Character – A mostly matte, soft brown with fine rose gold glitter throughout shade. The glitters give this mediocre shade a unique twist. The glitter does cause a bit of fall out if you blend it out too much. This shade has good pigmentation.

Row 3:

Thought- A shimmery greyish taupe shade. A bit cool toned, still flattering on most skin tones. Good pigmentation.
Heart- A dusty taupe matte shade. Good pigmentation and can be used to blend out harsh edges or to set primer with. This shade will complement most cool-toned looks.
Peace – A deeper bronzy -coppery sister of “Affection.” Good pigmentation and a great all over lid shade.

Row 4:

Vitality- A shimmery pale gold. Good pigmentation and perfect all-over lid shade or to use in the inner corners.
Substance- A shimmery silver shade. A great shade if you have an outfit with silver detailing and silver jewelry. It is quite unique because it has some warmth to it. Hence those who are usually vary of cool tone shade even you can pull this off.
Essence: A matte black. A must-have in every palette. Great pigmentation, so be sure to use a light hand.

Staying Power:  These shadows do not crease on me. I usually use a primer before using these shadows hence they wear for 7-8 hours on me without fading.

Overall, I think this is a perfect party wear palette with so many beautiful flattering shades which any skin tone can pull off. I do think the eyeshadows in this palette are much more consistent in quality (though I have used better shadows from other brands, these Stila eyeshadows are still good enough in my books) and this might be my next pick after the “Spirit” palette. If you want to pick only one variant from the Stila Eyes are the Windows palette range, you cannot go wrong with the “Soul” version. I will recommend this.

In the EOTD, I have used “Peace” all over lid with “Vitality” in the center of the lid. Blended with “Individual” in the crease and “Light” as brow bone highlight, and “Kitten” as inner corner highlight.
