My Experience with Stila In the Know Eye Shadow Palette:

This palette is not exactly a new release instead it has been around in the Stila’s makeup line for quite a long time but has been overshadowed by lots of new releases. But this palette truly deserves some recognition, which I am hopefully here to give.

Packaging:

Comes in a sleek sky blue sturdy cardboard with magnetic closure. There is a decent sized mirror inside and it also come with a full sized Stila smudge stick in the shade Half Moon which on its own retails for $20.

Texture:

These eyeshadows have very smooth finely milled powder. They do kick up some powder when you dip you brush in but they are not chalky-feeling at all. The blend very easily without too much effort.

Shades & Pigmentation:

All the shades in this palette are matte and lean towards neutral tones which are so appropriate for creating day time looks. Almost all shades are warm toned which is something I love. Most shades in this palette are very similar to the shades in the StilaEyes are the Window “Mind” Palette which retails for $49.

The pigmentation on all these shades is very good. The bottom row shades do show up with more intensity than the top row mainly because the colors are darker.

Top Row:

• Air – matte beige- Works great as a brow bone and inner corner highlight to brighten up the area without seeing very apparent. The effect is very natural.
• Wind – soft matte peach- Works great as an all over lid shade for no makeup makeup looks. Also works great to set the eye primer to create a smooth even base.
• Desert – soft matte tan w/warm undertones – A beautiful transition shade, and a shade to blend out harsh edges in brown beige eye looks.
• Clay – matte soft warm peach-A beautiful transition shade, and a shade to blend out harsh edges in peachy pink eye looks.
• Earth – deep matte chocolate brown- A great natural looking crease shade, outer V shade and a shade to smoke out eyeliner without it seeming too harsh.

Bottom Row:

• Driftwood – mid tone brown – A great crease shade and also wonderful to use on the outer V for natural day looks
• Fire – matte brick- My most favorite shade in the palette. It gives such beautiful warmth to the eyes and really complements my eye color. I reach for this shade every time I use this palette.
• Rain-matte light taupe brown- A beautiful crease shade to implement with any eye looks
• Smoke – matte charcoal grey- Can be used paired with Ebony to create Grey-black smoky eye looks
• Ebony – matte black-Can be used paired with Smoke to create Grey-black smoky eye looks. Also works great to smoke out eye liner and used on lower lash line
These shades work great on their own even without primer but with primer underneath it really makes all the shades especially the lighter ones pop.

These shades can also be used wet but I have never used that that way as I am happy with the intensity these shadows give even when used dry. I don’t feel the need to use them wet.

Smudge Stick in the shade Half Moon:

The smudge stick provided is retractable hence no hassle of sharpening. The problem I have with it is that the retractable mechanism is not the best. Sometime no matter how much I twist the product does not come out and once your pull up too much it does not go back. The tip is prone to breaking. But other than that the liner itself is creamy and glides on smooth even on the waterline. The shade is so beautiful and such a unique deep grey and it complement the looks created with this palette.

Staying Power:

The eyeshadows stay on for 6-7 hours before I notice some fading. The longevity is  improved with a use of primer. They do not crease nor do they cause a lot of fall out.

Overall , a fantastic palette and the fact that it is all matte shades makes a perfect supplement palette to all you other eye shadows in your collection but these shades can most definitely be used on their own too to create diverse looks. This palette is definitely a value for money since it is very inexpensive and also gives you full sized eyeliner with it. If you are someone who was eyeing the Stila “Mind” Palette but don’t want to splurge that much, this palette is definitely the one to pick as it has very similar shades and quality.I highly recommend this Stila In the Know Eye Shadow Palette.
