What’s more, our Smudge Sticks can be used as a classic pencil liner or a smudgy eye shadow – simply smudge with your fingers or a brush. The color sets after you’ve had time to get your desired effect, and then stays put all day.

Tips:
• Trace along upper and lower lashes to use as an eye liner.
• For eye shadow, use your fingers to smudge it out before color sets.
• No sharpener necessary!
• For best use, remove the cap, twist counterclockwise multiple times (it may take several twists), and apply!
• Note: the propel pencil does not retract.

My Experience with Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner – Lionfish:

Well, I have added one more eye pencil in my vanity. It comes packaged in a coloured twist-up pencil form and a cap which closes firmly. The packaging colour is the same as the shade, hence easy to pick. After my first use, I tried to twist the pencil and it would not come up, I tried again and was upset thinking probably it is a faulty piece. Then I tried one more time, but it wouldn’t. It is a tricky situation and the pencil needs to be held in a particular position, for it to twist up. After regular use, I did not have issues with the twist up concept.

Lionfish is a bronze brown shade which has a sheen. It is a lovely shimmery colour and I immediately liked it when I did a trial swatch on my wrist. The texture is very soft, smooth and creamy; it glides easily and applies easily. It is intensely pigmented, and one swipe gives good colour effect on my upper lid and near my lower lid. However, on my waterline two to three swipes are required for the colour to show.

pencil tip

The shimmer is subtle and not gritty; however, it tends to spread to the lashes while application. I have no issues with this, since a swipe of mascara takes care. The shade is buildable to get the desired intensity.
This eyeliner can be smudged to get a smudged, smoky effect or blended to apply as an eyeshadow before it settles down. It does not smudge, transfer or spread once it settles down, and needs to be blended well. Lasting power is easily 8 to 12 hours; it does not fade. It is indeed waterproof, as claimed, and needs to be removed with a makeup remover.

swatch

I prefer applying it on my upper lid and near my lower lid. Then using the unique Clinique quickliner for eyes smudge tip, I smudge/even out the colour on my upper lid and the bronzed colour shows more clearly. I am very happy with the colour payoff, stay power and smooth application. It does not irritate or burn my sensitive eyes, even when applied on the water line. It’s a beautiful shimmery bronzed brown shade and I love it to the core.
