My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics That ’70s Red It’s A-Pout Time! Vivid Lipstick:

The packaging of Sugar products is always truly adorable. The mosaic pattern printed outer cardboard box looks funky. There is some girl’s face printed in a mosaic pattern, which looks cool. This outer cardboard packaging has a matte finish and looks chic. The box contains all the necessary product details like the ingredients list, shade name, number etc. Inside this packaging comes a classy black matte plastic casing. It looks quite different from the usual lipstick tubes. It has the brand’s tagline mentioned on it in white fonts on one side of the lipstick and the other side indicates the shade name and number.

It also contains a sticker at its base mentioning the manufacturing date and expiry date. The cap of the lipstick shuts very tightly and does not come off while carrying around. The lipstick bullet retracts with a click and makes the packaging even more travel-friendly. But, the shape of the lipstick bullet makes it a little difficult to apply. So, I prefer applying it using a lip brush. Overall, the packaging has no flaws. It is very sturdy, travel-friendly and classy as well.

The shade “That ’70s Red” is a hot and sultry red shade with cool undertones. It will suit a wide variety of skin tones well. I am actually a die-hard red lipstick lover. So, for me, a red lipstick with a matte finish is like a cherry on top of ice cream. This shade perks up my face instantly. This is a bright and bold color hence it is surely not an everyday shade. The lipstick is decently pigmented. It will require just 2 swipes to build up the color properly. I do not need the third swipe, really. It gives a perfect opaque finish with just two swipes and hides those pigmented lips well. There are no shimmers or glitters in the lipstick. It has a mild and non-bothering vanilla fragrance. The lipstick sets to a stunning matte finish with a nice and hydrating formula.

The texture of the lipstick is very creamy; this soft and creamy texture gives an effortless application. There is no tugging or pulling of the lips. The lipstick has a nice and moisturizing formula. My lips do not feel any dryness even after hours of application. My lips stay nourished and hydrated for long. The lipstick never accentuates the fine lines of the lips. It does not bleed or smudge at all normally. But there is a little smudging from the outer corners of the lips after a full meal. So, it’s better to wear a lipliner underneath to prevent the lipstick from feathering.

This lipstick does not cling to the dry patches of the lips. Though I always prefer to exfoliate my lips well before applying any matte lip color, it is not mandatory with this lip color. The lipstick feels so light and ultra comfortable on the lips. It does not feel waxy or sticky. The creaminess of the lipstick makes it transfer a little. But that happen with all creamy lip colors. So, I do not consider it as a con as there is no heavy transferring.

The lipstick has an amazing lasting power. The lipstick lasts for some 6 hours or so on my lips without any significant fading. It does survive a full heavy meal with a little fading. But, it bleeds a little after a full meal. There is a little fading of the color after a full meal. Once the color is gone, I can see a pretty red stain on my lips. The lipstick does not leave any stain behind and is quite easy to remove. A swipe of my wet wipe does the job perfectly. Overall, I am already obsessed with Sugar products. Their lipsticks and crayons are amazing and worth every penny.
