Aruna asks:

Hi Girls,

Me + husband and 2 other couples are planning our New Year in a resort for that weekend. It’s in Hyderabad itself, so shouldn’t be too cold. Just to give you a quick idea on what the plans are – we will be checking on 30th afternoon, checking out 1st afternoon, so that’s 3 afternoons/2 nights. These are my thoughts but please feel free to share your ideas:

  • Evening/Nights – jeans/top/stole + stilettos (if we are going to a restaurant). Whether we are ordering in or dining at one of the restaurants in the resort this outfit should hold good I think.
  • Day time – One of those days, I want to wear a dress so bad. Would a summer dress work or should I try a Romper type thing? What type of shoes ideally would go with an outfit like this? I don’t want to come across as wannabe teenager or a 20 year old .
  • Makeup tips also are so very welcome.  By the way, any idea on where I would find colored jeans in Hyderabad?. Levis had some but only for the skinny women. …esssssh!!!! Will Mango have them?

Thanks in advance.

HI Aru……since winters are not so chilly during day time in Hyderabad, I think you can definitely wear a dress. Try Mango….they might have colored jeans :) Hey, there was one pic I saw of yours on FB, it was a dress with a collar sort of thing if I can remember correctly….you looked great in that one….find something similar :)

Hi Aruna..
For evening I would suggest why don’t you put on a light-weight colored blazer to jeans-top look.
For day dress would be great..I would suggest A-line cuts as it looks more lady-like and sophisticated :D
Mango has a great inventory of colored jeans, if there’s Lifestyle or Shopper’s Stop in Hyderabad then you will have options in UCB, Lee, Bossini, Krauss, Code, Ginger to name a few :) And there’s always an option for online shopping (though I dunn prefer it now..had very bad experiences with it).
And lastly dunn worry, experiment whatever you like after all it’s New Years party! :D

Mango has a ton of coloured jeans and great fits. should check.

for evening a sequins dress with leggings and a light cardi would look nice. you can pair these with basic black mid heel pumps. the cardi would keep that feminine look a alive without looking too girly. you can add a thin belt over the top of cardo or on the dress to accentuate your waist.

for day time i feel light weight cotton pants / jeans with blouse and flowy cardi would look nice. actually if weather allows you can wear dress during the day as well and pair them with wedges or pumps.. I am actually quite confused about the weather that you’d be in.

and makeup wise, keep it nice and light and for evenings add a bit of shimmer to the lids. :D I would def wear red lips on new year’s eve. :P

hey aru i think you would really look nice if you comycat the recent drass trights and coat look that rati di had done! I think it was a dress from FCUK and it was prefect, not oo sobre and not too summery too! also wouldnt stilettos be too formal for a holiday??????? you should probably carry some loafers too for the jean when youa renot in very classy surroundings!
