Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick - Mulberry

Faces Satin Matte lipstick gives a just-applied look for hours and will not crack, cake, or dry lips. Its smooth, glide-on texture gives a creamier feel for a long time.

Product Details:

Enriched with Vitamin E and extracts of raw mango butter for skin repair against climatic change. Super stay, easy to apply lipstick gives uniform lip color coverage. Lanolin and perfume free. Very moisturising and doesn’t dry out at all.
It gives a semi matte finish on lips.

The lipstick is highly pigmented and a single swipe gives a nice intense color to the lips giving complete coverage.

Rs. 299/- originally, but I got it for Rs. 255/- (15% discount).

My Say on Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick – Mulberry:

This is my second lipstick from Faces brand and again, I love this one; not that much as I love my Faces Mineral Lipstick, but nevertheless, this is again a beautiful shade and a great lipstick.

Shade:

It is a reddish-purple or burgundy shade. The shade may look pinker with a hint of brown color in the swatch, but on the lips, it looks like a combination of pink and plum shade. It’s obviously a different shade in my collection and a beautiful matte shade for this fall.

I swiped at least 20 shades on the Faces counter and instantly fell in love with this shade as soon as the SA swiped it on my hand. It is a sort of color that is very easy to carry off kind and would compliment all skin tones pretty well. So, if you are bored with your usual pinks/plum, then you can definitely grab this shade as a great change.

Texture:

Buttery soft, super smooth, and nicely-pigmented texture this lipstick has. It glides on easily and keeps the lips hydrated and moisturized, but it may easily melt because of its soft texture, so keep it safe in summers. One may not face any issue of it settling in fine lines. Well, I have not seen a more creamy-textured matte lipstick like this one till now.

Staying Power:

It stays on for 2 hours with its full glossiness, then kind of fades away into a stain that stays on for 2 hours and more easily. You need to touch up after a full meal while it can survive light snacks without difficulty.

Packaging:

It comes in a glossy, black, sturdy outer packaging, but as the texture of lipstick is very creamy and soft, so the bullet may break with rough usage and one has to be careful while using it.

Pros of Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick – Mulberry:

Awesome shade.
Buttery soft and smooth texture.
Keeps the lips hydrated.
Stays on for 4-5 hours with meals in between.
Highly pigmented.
Decently priced.
Easily available.
Has a faint nice fragrance which remains for some time after applying it.

Cons of Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick – Mulberry:

The lipstick needs to be kept in a cool place in summers as it may melt.
Do take care while applying it too as the bullet inside may break.
Easily transferrable.

I bought this lipstick long back from Amazon and I wonder why I did not review it before.

I have the shade Zinfandel. It was a random online purchase and I had no clue about the shade when I purchased it. Zinfandel is a reddish pink with some copper tone and has golden shimmer in it. It is the kind of shade very apt for Indian weddings. I prefer to wear this only for formal occasions.

Packaging:

The lipstick has this really innovative-interesting packaging. On the first look it seemed like a cigarette lighter to me :P It has a mirror-like casing (which has now washed off now from the one that I have) and holds the lipstick and the lip balm.

The packaging has one base coat (red stick) which is the actual lipstick and top coat (white stick). As stated, the base coat is to be applied first and after a minute or so , we need to apply the top coat.

What I Like about L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipstick – Zinfandel:

It has a soft texture.
Great staying power (this is the only long-wear lipstick + party wear shade I have), stays intact for 6-7 hours easily.
Strong pigmentation.
Gives full coverage.
Interesting packaging.
I like the shade for my formal occasions or parties.

What I Don’t Like about L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipstick – Zinfandel:

Even though the texture is soft, it is slightly thick too.
Does not apply easily/evenly on the lips.
Absolutely a NO if you have dry and chapped lips.
Settles in lines.
Comes off only with a makeup remover.
Drying on the lips, so you need to reapply the top coat given with this often.

Will I Repurchase L’Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipstick – Zinfandel?

Overall, I don’t see myself repurchasing this lipstick, but since I have this, I do use it. It’s just that I need to reapply a gloss or a lip balm over this to make it work. If you have dry lips in general, you should stay away from these completely.
Also, these lipsticks are not available in India and for the first time I am not complaining about that

Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick in shade Cordovan

Dear IMBB-ians,

A Happy and Merry New Year!

Faces Canada is a brand that needs no introduction and I absolutely love this brand. I think most of their products are value for money and so when I got a chance to pick up a couple of lipsticks from their satin matte range, I jumped at the offer and this is only shade I totally dislike.

Shade Being Reviewed:

Cordovan.

Price:

INR 299 but you can get it for 250 and lesser through offers.

Product Description:

Enriched with Vitamin E and extracts of raw mango butter for skin repair against climatic changes.
Super stay, easy to apply lipstick gives uniform coverage.
Lanolin and perfume free.
Available in 18 different shades: Mostly browns and purple-reds and a few pinks (I have not seen any coral shade in this range!)

Packaging:

It comes in a proper black square packaging with ingredients and expiry date listed, which I totally love. The lipstick tube is also sleeky black and the shade is listed on the bottom. I do however wish that Faces Canada would start adding some color details on the wrapping so that it is easier to identify and select. The lipstick comes in sturdy plastic casing which I can assure you, is fall proof (having dropped it 3-4 times!)

My Experience with Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick in shade Cordovan:

I love this range, I absolutely love them. The lipstick is creamy soft without being as creamy as their moisture-rich range, but glides softly over lips. No shimmers, no glitters and it gives a creamy matte finish. The pigmentation is very good and you can get a good layer in one swipe. If you buy a stronger shade in this range, you might have to use a brush to apply this if you want to build this color, as a single swipe adds a nice amount of color.

It is not at all drying, doesn’t settle in fine lines and the staying power is average (around 3-4 hours without food) unlike the “super stay” claimed by the company. The only complaint I have is that this melts in hot climate, but not as crazily as the NYX round ones! So, if you’re buying this, clear some space in your fridge. It has a nice fragrance, so I guess this is not perfume free as claimed and it also contains parabens.

About the Shade:

Dusky beauties (like me), stay away from this shade. Fair skin lovelies, this could be either a nice nude shade for you or a creamy brownish shade you might like. I know the swatch looks pretty nice, but I cannot explain how this washes out my face, because it does! The shade brings out every flaws in my unevenly shaded skin, so I either use it with a pinkish or brownish gloss on top. The only way I use this as a stand-alone lipstick is for office, pairing this up with brighter eye and cheek makeup.

Pros of Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick in shade Cordovan:

Gives a creamy, satiny, matte effect as promised.
Glides on lips, doesn’t settle in fine lines and doesn’t dry out.
Nice and sleek packaging.
Value for money and easy available.

Cons of Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick in shade Cordovan:

Contains parabens and has a nice fragrance though they claim its perfume free.
Opaque packaging which gives no clue to shade inside.
Melts in humid climate.
I cannot honestly list a wrong shade as a con, so avoiding that.

Rating:

Overall, my rating is 4 (0.5 for parabens and 0.5 for melting).

Would I Buy Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick in shade Cordovan Again?

Of course, I love this range and I am planning to buy some nice shades, but after testing the colors out in a store.

My Experience with Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick 502A Dark Pink Frost:

This is a pink frost color with some beige undertones. The beige warms it to an extent and makes it a very much wearable color for Indian skin tones. It is very well pigmented, long lasting, smooth, creamy and a perfect-value-for-money lipstick. I don’t find any need of applying a lip liner with this lipstick. It has a distinctive fruity smell, which I like. The lipstick doesn’t dry your lips and the color faints uniformly.

In fact, I cannot think of its replacement in Indian market till date. The packaging is very typical, with transparent cap and colored bottom for easy recognition in your stack.

Pros of Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick 502A Dark Pink Frost:

Lipstick is creamy and glides smoothly on your lips.
It’s a versatile shade.
It doesn’t settle in fine lines, neither does it give a dry feeling.
It’s a very subtle frosty pink, perfect for Indian skin tones.
It has excellent pigmentation, you don’t have to rub it again and again to get the color.
I love the fruity fragrance.
It stays intact for almost 3-4 hours and then gradually fades away evenly.

Cons of Wet n Wild Silk Lipstick Finish 502A Dark Pink Frost:

Packaging is cheap, might break easily, but who minds at such a great price.
List of ingredients, expiry date not mentioned.
Some of you might not like the fragrance.
Not available in India.

Deborah Milano Light Creator Shine and Volume Lipstick

Product Description:

Light reflecting glitter particles leave lips with with absolute brilliance and a lasting “wet look.” Enriched with lip-plumping,ultra moisturising Hilurlip,this lipstick has a luscious texture that simply glides over lips.Dermatologist tested.
Deborah Milano is an Italian brand and I find it quite nice for its products,quality and packaging.

Packaging:

The lipstick is encased in a pink-coloured asymmetric tube that is quite sturdy. Both the ends have the number and shade of the lipstick that makes it easy to store and find. I personally find it quite attractive.

Texture:

The texture is smooth, moisturising and as described provides a glossy wet look to the lips. It feels very light on the lips. It has very fine shimmer particles that are not at all irritating or overdone. The shimmer doesn’t settle in fine lines.

Pigmentation:

The color is sheer but buildable. A single swipe imparts sheer color but 2-3 swipes can provide an opaque color. Due to the wet texture, it has less lasting power of about 2-2 and half hours.

Shade:

Shade No.7 is more of a pinky peach color. The presence of shimmer makes it all the more beautiful. It is a very pretty shade and I use it quite often.

Beautiful shade.
Smooth texture, lightweight and moisturising.
Easy to carry.
No need to use a gloss over it.
Provides fuller, plumped lips.
Easily available online and has selected counters.
The shimmer doesn’t settle in the fine lines of lips.
Comes off easily and doesn’t leave any residue behind.

Cons of Deborah Milano Light Creator Shine and Volume Lipstick:

Very less staying power.

Altogether, I totally love this brand and this shade and would recommend to all.

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick from the range crème in the shade Wink For Pink. Read on to know what I like and what I dislike about this lipstick. Before I proceed with the review,I would like to apologize for the poor quality of pictures. I’m really sorry about those. I hope you’ll be able to have a fair idea about the lipstick from these photos and of course, from my review.

Price:

It was INR 475 for 4.2 gm when I had bought it. Now, I think, they’ve hiked the price to Rs. 500, please correct me if I’m wrong.

Shelf Life:

Nothing is mentioned about it on the lipstick.

Ingredients:

Again, no mention about them.

Product Description:

(I got this information from an online site): It is enriched with LiquiSilk technology,a revolutionary way to evenly unify pure color with silk-enriched mega moisturizers and vitamins.

Lips look gorgeous, silky and smooth.
Rich, full coverage stay-true color wears evenly for lasting richness and vibrance.

Packaging: It comes in a black, sturdy plastic case. The pull-open black cap of the lipstick is transparent at the top, through which the color of the lipstick can be seen. The bottom of the lipstick case has a pink sticker which bears the name and number of the shade of lipstick.

Color: Its a medium pink with a slight hint of coral. It has very fine shimmer.

Fragrance: None.

Texture: Its creamy and therefore glides on the lips well.

Staying Power: 3-4 hours without food and/or water, two hours with the same.

My Take on Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick – Wink for Pink:

I bought this lipstick only on the insistence of my elder cousin. It so happened that I had taken my cousins to a mall near my house for some shopping, with no plans to buy anything for myself. When I say I don’t plan to buy anything to my mom, she knows that I will definitely buy something, at least one thing, maybe a nail paint or anything else, and so she gave me 200 bucks before we headed to the mall.

At the Revlon counter, I was trying some nail paints while my cousin was trying various Colorburst and Super-lustrous lipsticks. She had a BIG budget and was planning to buy at least 3-4 lipsticks, 2 of them, she decided would be from Revlon. So, when she showed me this lipstick, I said it looked too bright in the case which it did. She said it was not too bright in reality and asked me to try it once and see for myself.

When I tried it, she insisted I buy it as it was looking pretty on my lips, I did not think so. My lips are pigmented and the lipstick is sheer, so I knew it would not cover the pigmentation properly and I would need to top it with a gloss, but my cousin did not see my point. She insisted that it looked nice on the back of my hand, so it would like nice on my lips. When I said I did not have the money, she even went on to say that she would pay for the lipstick and I can take it as my gift. When she said that, I thought what the heck, even if it doesn’t suit me, at least I’ll not have that guilt of blowing my money on it and so I obliged, end of the story and restart of the review.

The color is quite sheer and it takes at least 3 to 4 swipes to achieve the color in the case. It does not cover the pigmentation on my lips, but when I apply a lip gloss on top of it, the pigmentation is almost invisible. The texture is really creamy, so even if I skip the lip balm, which I don’t usually, but I just tried once, it doesn’t make my lips dry nor does it settle in fine lines, which is really good.

I like its moisturizing property the most. The shimmers are not chunky and very fine and subtle, which I don’t mind. The color does not bleed even after being topped with gloss, which is what I really appreciate about it. I like my lipsticks to have little or no fragrance, this one fits the bill perfectly as it has no smell at all!!

It fades evenly and doesn’t leave any blot of color on my lips after fading, that’s one more plus point for me.

Summing up the pros and cons for you:

Pros of Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick – Wink for Pink:

The texture is creamy and so the lipstick glides nicely.
It keeps the lips moisturised.
The packaging is nice, I especially like the see-through part of the cap, which makes locating or identifying the lipstick an easy task.
The color is buildable.
After 3 or 4 swipes, the color looks quite pretty.
While the color would suit most skin tones, it would look lovely on fair-skinned people!
It does not bleed nor does it settle in fine lines.
It fades out evenly.
Revlon super lustrous lipsticks are available everywhere.
It is non fragrant nor does it have any taste.
It is not tested on animals.
The color is neither intense nor bright, so if worn alone, it is suitable for everyday use.
The shimmers are very subtle and fine.

Cons of Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick – Wink for Pink:

It does not cover pigmented lips.
The price is quite high for a 4 gm lipstick.
The staying power could have been better.
Those who are on the lookout for an intense, pigmented color might not like it since its sheer.

Will I Purchase Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick – Wink for Pink Again?

No, I won’t. I will look for a better lipstick which can cover my pigmented lips completely.

Will I Recommend Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick – Wink for Pink?

I would recommend this to those who like sheer lipsticks with medium coverage.

My Views on Wet ‘n’ Wild Silk Finish Lipstick- Dark Wine:

This is the other lipstick I got from Wet ‘n’ Wild but this is the Silk finish range which provides a high shine and highly-pigmented bright shades of lipsticks. I actually wanted to order another shade, but by mistake wrote this shade number and got it instead, but for the price I paid and the lipstick I got, I am more than impressed. It provides a better performance than many Indian drugstore brand lipsticks. The low price tag of these Wet ‘n’ Wild Silk Finish Lipsticks is one of the biggest lures of this product.

Shade:

552A is a true dark red lipstick. It is a little brighter than what it appears in the tube, but it’s a really nice berry color for this fall. A perfect shade for a night-out or party. Yes, I won’t call it an everyday kind of a shade, but if you dab it lightly, then it would give a beautiful red tint on the lips. Again, this shade is going to rock on almost all skin tones. It will make you look like a diva.

Texture:

The Silk finish lipstick is quite creamy and goes on smoothly on the lips. The finish is glossy but with no shimmers. It’s a nice lipstick for when you don’t feel like doing a gloss. These lipsticks are incredibly pigmented and the formula is great for the price. One single swipe gives a tremendous shade, but it can be drying in this cold weather, so better use a lip balm first.

Staying Power:

I find the staying power as phenomenal! The color remains bright and vibrant for 4 hours easily and survives light snacks in between, but after full meals or after 3-4 hours, it fades and remains as a strong tint on the lips that stay on for 6-7 hours with no trouble.

If you need the same vivacious shade, then there are ways to make these lipsticks last longer though, pat it with some powder and some lip liner and you’ll be good to go! I usually blot the first coat of the lipstick and then apply again. Then you can happily forget about it for almost the full day. It even survives the full meals then.

Swatch (single swipe)

The shade is easily transferrable at first, but the tint left after 4 hours or more will not transfer easily.

Packaging:

Well, here it could have been better. I am not impressed much with the packaging again. I find it cheap but it is the easiest thing to locate your lipstick in the huge stack of the other shades due to the transparent top lid.

Pros of Wet ‘n’ Wild Silk Finish Lipstick- Dark Wine:

• Creamy and smooth texture.
• Insanely pigmented.
• Long staying power.
• Shade can be used in full color for making you stand out in a group or can be used as a daily wear if applied as a tint.
• Just see the price, 1$. That’s the biggest pro of this lipstick.
• Shade would easily suit many skin tones.
• See-through kind of packaging makes it easy to locate the lipstick.
• Color does not settle in fine lines and does not bleed.

Cons of Wet ‘n’ Wild Silk Finish Lipstick- Dark Wine:

• Color does not survive full meals.
• Can be a bit drying on the lips.
• Availability online on some websites alone.
• Unimpressive packaging.
• Some can find this shade really dark and bold, but that’s a personal choice.

Do I Recommend Wet ‘n’ Wild Silk Finish Lipstick- Dark Wine:

For beginners, yes. At this price, you can buy most of the shades and look and feel gorgeous. This shade is pretty bold and a best option to be used in this winters. Well, dupes for this would be available here also but not at this unbeatable low price and the pinks in this range are really pretty and can be easily picked.

Well, I first thought I had found a dupe for this in my lipstick collection as the Avon Golden Wine, but then there is a clear difference in the swatches below. I added the L’oreal one just to show what a true berry red this Wet ‘n’ Wild lipstick shade is, I’m impressed.

My Take on Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick – Spicy Cinnamon:

Color sensational lipsticks from Maybelline are one of its most preferred and sort after range. I have tried 2-3 shades from it and I have been fairly satisfied with their quality at INR 299 price tag.

I picked up the shade Spicy Cinnamon a few days back and I am absolutely in love with this colour off late. The shade seemed like brick red when I saw it first, but the swatch looked more brownish pink. On my lips, it comes out as a beautiful rosy brown with a hint of pink. I absolutely love such shades :love: :love:

I can easily pull off this shade for my daily makeup as it doesn’t look too bright. The lipstick has creamy finish/formula and the pigmentation is great too. It has a slight/nice sheen to it, but contains no shimmer at all.

Overall, I like this particular shade (and Colorsensational range from Maybelline) a lot and I will definitely repurchase.

What I Like about Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Spicy Cinnamon:

• Great pigmentation, just one swipe gives you enough colour. Can be built upon for more/full coverage.
• Creamy formula/finish, glides on the lips easily.
• Available in a lot of shades catering to all age groups.
• I like the vanilla like taste/fragrance they carry.
• Decent packaging
• Fairly priced @ INR 299
• Easily available across Stores.

What I Do Not Like about Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Spicy Cinnamon:

• No mention of ingredients list anywhere.
• Staying power is not superb.
• Transfers to drinking cups/bottles.

This is by far the most celebrated Rimmel lipstick that I have heard of in the blogosphere. So, I had to get to get one just for the fun of it even though I knew this will not be my cuppatea I knew this is a milky baby pink with little frost, which can wash me out jolly good and similarly many Indian yellow-toned complexions, but still, I had to get one

The first time I knew how popular this was when I saw this on katrinalomidze.com and Beboxo youtube channel where she said this is MLBB lipstick and even though I felt it was looking pale and milky on her, she was loving it :silly:. The name itself is very cute and so is the cute crown on top of the lipstick cap. The tube is thick and round and I quite like it, but the plastic seems not so black and classy. Its just a purple black one with nothing much mentioned on the case. The lipstick is a pretty baby pink, almost nude for me and has a little glaze-cum-frost to it and its not flat. The frost is not at all bad and very passable, even if you don’t like the frosted lipsticks.

The lipstick inside is well sturdy and is a full 4 grams I believe. Its very smooth and moisturising and lasts upto three hours on me. I somehow feel it thickens after application on my lips and maybe it does due to the lasting claims. Its not like those thin, light moisturising ones and yet it delivers the color in one swipe. I can very well compare it to L’oreal Color Riche in Sepia/Silk (for anyone who wants a dupe of this), which I sold off in the IMBB sale for 150 rupees

It’s exactly like that in shade and that glistening kind of finish, but the L’oreal one was much gentler in the case and not sturdy and was on the watery glossy side. The shade nevertheless is an exact dupe of the silk one. It can also be a little like NYX Thalia in my opinion, but Thalia is creamy and not so frosty.

My Take on Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick 070 Airy Fairy:

It’s a nude milky pink for me no doubt, but nothing that I am fond of. My face sure needs some color and this can look awful and pale on me without a proper base. On the other hand, it can look very classy with a light pink matte blush on and some blue black smokey eye. One swipe matches my lips you can say, but when I wear this, my face longs for some color, which means it does wash me out. Its not my kind of pink and I don’t recommend it to dusky beauties. If you are lighter and pinker in tone it may look nice on you. Sometimes, when I wear this, it looks as if my face is brown and yellow and my lips are milky pink grrrrr. I would safely wear it over a darker pink.

Who Would Like It?

If you are fond of nude lips, for office, smoky eyes, and are a little lighter and pinker in skin tone, if you can do up a good face base with a light pink blush, if you have dry lips, if you need a moisturising lipstick – you may like it.

Last Word:

My lips almost drink up this color for the barely-there effect. It can look very pale and awkward on me, but its definitely a very pretty color in my opinion. It has that glistening effect when light hits it, which is neither gloss nor frost, but just a very pretty sheen to it. The packaging is nice and strudy. The lipstick is smooth and moisturising, can be on the safe side when I mix it up with some kind of NYX doll lipstick. On other days, its gonna sulk in my fridge!
