Lotus Herbals Maxlash Botanical Mascara

Hello IMBB Sweeties!

It’s been more than two months I have been using Lotus Herbals mascara, so now I think it’s the right time to review it. So beautiful ladies, here is my take on it:

Price- Rs 245 for 4gms. I got it at Rs 230 after discount.

My Experience:
After purchasing my first mascara, Streetwear, I bought the lotus one as Streetwear one was a bit itchy for my eyes and I didn’t like its quality very much. I saw this mascara couple of months back in the lotus counter. When I purchased the eyeliner and kajal from Lotus, the SA suggested me to use this mascara for greater volume and lengthening effect. I quite liked the wand and decided to try it as it contains several herbal ingredients and thus won’t be itchy like the Streetwear one.

When I first used this, I felt instant cooling effect on my lashes and saw immediate lengthening of my lashes with one coat. It opens up my eyes and makes my overall appearance very fresh. It clumped when I used second coat immediately after the first one. So now I let the first one dry properly and then apply the second one. It somehow volumizes my lashes but not very significantly. It’s not at all waterproof!! I used it and splashed water on my eyes, to my horror, all of it got washed away giving me raccoon eyes.

Pros of Lotus Herbals Maxlash Botanical Mascara:

-Contains herbal ingredients such as Lavender extracts, witch hazel extracts, and Symphytum Officinale Leaf extracts.
-It doesn’t irritate my eyes at all.
-It has an instant cooling effect on eye lashes.
-It claims to have volumizing properties.
-One coat is enough for me to open up my eyes, relieving dull and tired looking appearance.
-One coat is enough for desired lengthening of lashes.
-It is fragrance free and suitable for sensitive eyes.
-It gets easily removed with makeup remover, no hassles in that.
-Wand is very flexible and can be used to coat lower lashes effectively.
-Bit of clumpiness that occurs can be effectively resolved by eyebrow and lash groomer.

Cons of Lotus Herbals Maxlash Botanical Mascara:

-It is not at all waterproof. This is seriously not expected from a well known company like Lotus Herbals after mentioning waterproof on the package. :no:
-It clumps your lashes, if you use second coat immediately after first.
-Its consistency is very watery.
-After using it, it seems as if I have used false lashes.
-Just for 4 gms of the product, price is on the higher end.
-Not suitable during rainy days.
-It takes time for the first coat to dry.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Will I repurchase? No, I have bought Avon Supershock Mascara and I also have Maybelline waterproof mascara. I am not that impressed to purchase it again.

Overall Recommendation:
You can buy it for lengthening effect but still I would suggest not buying this if you are looking for a waterproof product.

I know this review should have come a few days back but I wanted to give this one a little more time before putting up the review.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS:

• Almond Oil : Excellent emollient & nourishing properties. Natural source of Vitamin E.
• Camphor : Cooling effect on eyes.

Why should you by Lotus Herbals Botanical Eyeliner? (my review)

• The camphor present in the liner gives a very nice cooling effect on your eyelids. The cooling effect is very temporary but it feels really nice- similar to what Lotus Herbals kajal gives.
• It does not smudge.
• It’s ashy black. If you are not too fond of intense blacks, this might work for you.
• It does not smudge.
• Have worn it many days and it has lasted me all day long. Might vary for you depending on how oily your lids get during the day.
• Comes off without any extra effort.
• The liner does not make my lids feel dry or irritable.
• Has a felt tip, which gives a better control.
• Is natural.
• It’s the most adorable and cutest bottle of liner I have ever come across.

Why should you NOT buy Lotus Herbals Botanical Eyeliner?

• It has a felt tip.If you are used to of using brushes, you might find it difficult to use. I didn’t find it difficult to use because I have also used Lakme’s eye artist in past.
• The liner is not very black. I like the intense blacks but that’s again a preference.
• It dries matte. If you like your liners to be glossy and shiny, this might not interest you.

My review:

Why should you buy Lotus Herbals Botanical Compact?

• Has SPF-15
• This is one of the most beautiful and most thoughtfully designed compact I have so far come across. 1) It has a huge good quality mirror- I can do my complete makeup with this mirror. 2) The compact powder has a transparent plastic cover- this keeps the powder protected. 3) There is a separate section for sponge and powder. 4) A press button to open the compact so at no time you have to worry about powder-mess in your bag. Commendable!
• The powder is silky. No chalkiness.
• No strong perfumes. The fragrance is very light and pleasant.
• Comes with a good quality sponge.
• Excellent setting and blotting powder.
• Has a perrty lotus flower engraved on the powder. lol!!

I am using the Natural Beige almost every day these days and I have not faced any issues with it yet. No break outs, no pore clogging. Although I don’t have huge pores but i end up facing problems with powders that accentuate my tiny pores as well. This one doesn’t. These days I am taking break from the liquid foundation so I just dab a little concealer and set my face with this powder. And it completes my base routine.

I even showed it a makeup artist and she was impressed. Gifting one of these to her.

Why should you NOT buy Lotus Herbals Botanical Compact?

I think more shade selection should be considered. I personally feel that this is one product that could rule the purses of Indian women but with only three shades to select from, a lot of women would choose other brand over this.

Lotus Herbals has launched its Colour Dew Nail Enamel Range almost two months back. Here are its features, swatches and my review. Enjoy!

What are Lotus Herbals Colour Dew Nail Enamels?

They are toluene, acetone and DBP free nail paints.

Toluene: disturbs woman’s ability to reproduce and it is linked to birth defects

DBP: di-butyl phthalate

• is a skin irritant and may cause liver damage.
• may cause spontaneous abortion in women exposed to it.
• narcotic in high concentrations.
• attacks the nervous system, eyes, blood, liver, kidneys and skin.

Acetone

• is a skin irritant & makes cuticles dry & dull
• makes nails brittle.

Why should you buy Lotus Herbals Nail paints?

• They are free of harmful chemicals that may harm your nails. This gives me such a relief that now I can paint my nails without any scare of harmful chemicals. And I wear nail paints A LOT.
• The brush is pretty flat so it makes the application pretty easy.
• I don’t know if this is a valid point or not but the bottles are generously filled with the paint. They are filled till the top.
• They don’t streak. You check the swatches and you wouldn’t find any streaking.
• They don’t chip. I wanted to try these paints completely before writing the review so I applied the paint without any base or top coat. I applied two coats of paint at least 4-5 days back and have washed utensils, cooked food and some other work but these paints didn’t fail me. Today morning, I saw that the paint on my hands is starting to fade from the corners but the paint on my feet is intact. Highly impressed!
• Pricing is quite comparable to the other brands available in this section.
• The bottles are pretty cute and sleek.

Why should you NOT buy Lotus Herbals Nail paints?

Limited shade selection: I would want to see more of pinks, blues, reds, blacks and many more colours.
